Blind Date with a Book Event with Roni Loren

Roni wrote her first romance novel at age fifteen when she discovered writing about boys was way easier than actually talking to them. Since then, her flirting skills haven’t improved, but she likes to think her storytelling ability has. She holds a master’s degree in social work and spent years as a mental health counselor, but now she writes full time from her cozy office in Dallas, Texas where she puts her characters on the therapy couch instead. She is a two-time RITA Award winner and a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author.

Feature and Giveaway: By the Hour by Roni Loren

From the New York Times bestselling author of Off the Clock comes a story of love, hate, and the fire that ignites when the two collide...

Dr. Elle McCray has a plan. Work hard. Be the best. And do it alone. After her ex-husband’s betrayal, she’s learned being feared is a hell of a lot easier than being humiliated. So when trouble personified, Lane Cannon, dares to flirt with her, she shuts him down cold. Too gorgeous. Too cocky. And his job as The Grove’s sexual surrogate is to sleep with patients. No, thank you.

Former escort Lane Cannon has spent enough years with people looking down on him. Stupid. Trailer trash. Rent boy. He’s heard it all. He’s worked too hard to shed his past to let some haughty doctor cut him down. But something about Elle’s ice queen act has his dominant instincts perking up and his body taking notice. He can’t walk away.

After an evening of verbal sparring turns into a night of steamy hate sex, Lane’s ready for round two. But Elle proposes a business deal. How better to keep things strictly physical than to pay him for his services?

Lane wants her, not her money. But he’ll play along in exchange for one thing—all the control. It’s only supposed to be a dirty little fling between colleagues, but these two are about to learn a lesson in love…by the hour.

ARC Review: By the Hour by Roni Loren

I am such a huge fan of Roni Loren's that I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book right after finishing Off the Clock. If you haven't read Off the Clock though, each of these is a standalone story so you can easily enjoy them without reading in order. I do recommend reading these in order if you can though as they are fantastic and you get to know some back story that I find adds to the experience.

By the Hour is Elle's story, and if I am honest I really disliked her in the first book. I knew that Roni could definitely change my mind though and that definitely happened here. Elle McCray throws herself into her work after being betrayed by her ex-husband. Now she puts everything she has into her career, choosing to shut others out and be feared rather than risk humiliation. So when former escort Lane Cannon flirts with her, she shuts him down. Lane has done everything he can to overcome his past, but he isn't about to let her get away with shutting him down. When things turn steamy one night, Lane has no intention of letting it be a one time thing. Elle proposes a business deal to keep it strictly physical, but Lane will only agree if he is the one in control. But what starts out as a business deal quickly becomes more, and soon they both realize that neither of them are able to control everything the way they thought they could.

I was a bit skeptical on Elle, but I was so glad that I gave her a chance! So much was brought to light here, explaining why Elle was the way she was. I felt like I really got to understand her here and it made me not only understand her but really come to like her. I felt for her and I was really hoping that she would get her HEA and everything that she deserved. I loved Lane too. He had a past that he had worked hard to overcome, and I loved that he did it on his terms. He saw beneath Elle's tough exterior and made her a better person. These two were super hot together, and their chemistry was off the charts. I loved seeing them get to know one another and explore all that was between them.

Overall, another fantastic story from Roni Loren that I can't recommend enough! I have loved everything I have read from her, and this was no exception. The Pleasure Principle series is one that has become a favorite, though honestly you cannot go wrong with anything from Roni Loren. She knows how to write a super sexy erotic romance that has plenty of story to go along with the heat. By the Hour is definitely one of my favorites I have read from Roni Loren, and I highly recommend this one and Off the Clock if you haven't read them yet. If you are looking for something sexy with a great story, this is a must read.

ARC Review: Loving You Easy by Roni Loren

Loving You Easy is the 9th book in the Loving on the Edge series by Roni Loren. Each book is a standalone story, though the characters are interconnected. I am a huge fan of this series, but I will warn readers that this series might not be for everyone. Each book is an erotic novella, often times dealing with BDSM elements as well as M/M action or menage relationships. That is not the case with every book, but if those things bother you then this series might not be for you. Loving You Easy is a menage story, featuring two men and one woman.

After another disappointment in her love life, Cora Benning decides to take things virtual. She joins Hayven, a place where she can explore and be herself without having to worry about being face to face with those that she is interested in. There she is Lenore, and she soon finds herself connecting with Dom Dmitry. But when when the game gets hacked, Cora finds herself in a situation where she will do anything to protect herself and the others in the game. As an IT specialist and certified white hat hacker, Cora takes a job for the game makers in order to beef up security and close all the holes in the game. What she doesn't expect is to be so drawn to the two men who own the business and are best friends. As each of them get to know one another, they soon find that their desires and needs match. But is Cora ready to take things from her virtual world and turn them into her reality?

These characters were fantastic! Roni Loren has such a way with words, and her stories are always more than just erotica. Ren, Hayes, and Cora were all deep and well written. You could feel their struggles and see how well they all fit together. They had each been through things that had them holding back at times or feeling insecure or unsure of themselves, yet when the three of them came together it was clear just how much they belonged together. I loved the support and connection between them all. Not only were they emotionally connected, but the chemistry between them was off the charts. These characters were so hot together, and you could feel the passion between them!

Overall, this was another fantastic addition to this series. I love how Roni Loren can always write a book that is so steamy, yet it also is a great story. The sex was hot, but it was so much more than that and Roni Loren does it perfectly. I couldn't put this book down, I had to know what would happen for Ren, Hayes and Cora. This series is one that I have loved from the very beginning, and with each new book I continue to be amazed at Roni Loren's ability to not only deliver with each new novel, but to give us stories that are unique and just seem to get better with each book. If you like erotica but want there to be a great story along with the sexy times, the Loving on the Edge series is an absolute must read.

From the New York Times bestselling author of the Loving on the Edge series and Off the Clock, a story of sex, love, rock & roll, and a reporter who’s about to learn a new meaning for staying on top of her assignment...

Restaurant critic Aubrey Bordelon is never at a loss for words to describe her meals in the fancy restaurants of New Orleans. But after her magazine’s high-profile music reporter falls ill, she finds herself out of her element and in a sea of screaming fans awaiting Wanderlust’s lead singer, Lex Logan. The sound of his voice gives her goosebumps, and the stage presence of the hard-bodied rock star takes her breath away. So when he pulls her onstage for a sexy stunt, she knows she’s in real trouble.

Lex doesn’t want to pretend that the sparks on stage between him and Aubrey never happened, but it certainly makes the fact that she’s writing a story on his band all the more dangerous. ARC Review: Wanderlust by Roni Loren

I am a huge fan of Roni Loren's, so any time that I see she has a new book coming out I can't wait to get my hands on it. Wanderlust was just as great as I had been expecting, and I really enjoyed reading it. It was nice to see something a bit new and different from Roni, yet also get a solid story filled with everything that I have come to know and love about her stories.

After her magazine's music reporter falls ill, restaurant critic Aubrey Bordelon finds herself covering. She must follow the popular band Wanderlust around, providing fans with a behind the scenes look. But Wanderlust's lead singer Lex Logan wants anything but a nosy reporter ready to spill their secrets and problems to the world following their every move. When he pulls Aubrey onstage for a stunt, the sparks between them begin to fly. Soon Lex begins to wonder if the best way to keep Aubrey distracted, is to keep her busy in his bed.

I loved these two so much and they had such great chemistry. They were so different, a true example of opposites attract. While Lex is the wild and sexy often cocky rockstar, Aubrey was the straight-laced good-girl reporter. Aubrey was used to wanting control and never stepping outside the lines, so it was good to see her loosen up a bit. Lex was exactly what she needed to help her live a little. I really felt for her, and I was so glad that she had Lex after all she had been through. Lex was irresistible and easy to fall for, and I found myself swooning right along with Aubrey. I loved that they were real and genuine, flaws and all. They had no problems admitting when they did wrong or messed up, and that was really refreshing.

Overall, another great story from Roni Loren. She knows how to deliver a solid story with a great balance of steam and emotion. I really felt drawn in from the start with this book and I didn't want to put it down! Aubrey and Lex were great, and I think that readers will love their story! Roni Loren is a talented writer, and I have never been disappointed by her books yet! This is one I would definitely recommend, and I already can't wait for more from her. I really enjoyed this world, and I hope that this turns into a series and we get more of the band!

ARC Review: Off the Clock by Roni Loren

I absolutely love Roni Loren! Not only does Roni Loren never disappoint, but she continues to impress me with her captivating stories, sexy heroes and likable heroines. Just when I think I have a favorite book of hers, she comes out with a new one that takes the other's place. Off the Clock is the first book in her new Pleasure Principle series, and I couldn't wait to get my hands on it! I love her Loving on the Edge series, but this was a fantastic start and I can't wait for more of these characters!

Marin Rush and Donovan West met when they were in college and shared a week together over spring break in the lab at their school. While doing research things got hot between them, but their lives went in separate directions. Now nine years later, they are once again thrown together when Marin takes a job for The Grove, a high-end sex therapy institute that specializes in experimental treatment options for their elite clientele of celebrities and rich people. Marin needs Donovan's help to land a permanent position and to help her out since she is about to become the only sex therapist that isn't having sex and is as inexperienced as they come. While Donovan has been trying to land a promotion and needs to show that he can be a good mentor after his last two therapists quit. But when Donovan gives her a list of tasks and research to help her get familiar with sex and the kind of things her clients will be coming to her for, things begin to heat up between them all over again. So when he offers to help her hands-on and off the clock, can they keep things between them so that neither of them get fired or attached?

I really liked these two. The chemistry between them was off the charts from their very first encounter and I couldn't get enough of them! Donovan and Marin were super sexy together and I loved their banter. Their relationship had a natural ease to it right away, and it was clear that they were able to talk to one another about pretty much anything. Both Donovan and Marin had some really rough times that they had dealt with, and they were able to relate to one another in a way that others didn't understand. I loved seeing them talk with one another and share their stories as well as help each other move forward. Donovan wasn't looking for a relationship and he thought that he was incapable of being someone that deserved Marin. But Marin was great with him and showed him that there was more to him than that, and I thought that she was exactly what he needed. He was great for her as well, and he really helped her to open her eyes to sex and becoming more comfortable with herself and the subjects she would be facing with her clients.

Overall, another great book from Roni Loren and I honestly cannot wait for more from her. Roni Loren writes such great stories, with each being filled with enough steam and sexy moments to keep you reading, but also enough emotional times to keep you invested in the characters and their relationship. If you are new to Roni's books, this is a great place to start, though I definitely recommend her Loving on the Edge series as well. If you are already a fan of hers though, Off the Clock is a must read and a great way to kick-off her new series.

FROM THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF THE LOVING ON THE EDGE NOVELS, THE FIRST IN A SENSUAL NEW SERIES

Overtime has never felt so good…

Marin Rush loves studying sex. Doing it? That’s another story. In the research lab, Marin’s lack of practical knowledge didn’t matter, but now that she’s landed a job at The Grove, a high-end, experimental sex therapy institute, she can’t ignore the fact that the person most in need of sexual healing may be her.

Dr. Donovan West, her new hotshot colleague, couldn’t agree more. Donovan knows that Marin’s clients are going to eat her alive unless she gets some hands-on experience. And if she fails at the job, he can say goodbye to a promotion, so he assigns her a list of R-rated tasks to prepare her for the wild clientele of The Grove’s X-wing.

But some of those tasks are built for two, and when he finds Marin searching for a candidate to help her check off her list, Donovan decides there’s only one man for the job—him. As long as they keep their erotic, off-the-clock activities strictly confidential and without strings, no one will get fired—or worse, get attached…

ARC Review: Break Me Down by Roni Loren

Break Me Down is the newest novella in the Loving on the Edge Series from Roni Loren. Though this book takes place between books eight and nine, it can be read as a standalone. Break Me Down is the story of Gibson (Kade's stepbrother) and Samantha (Tessa's best friend). If you are a fan of the series, there are a few other familiar faces that appear here as well and it was really good to see them again as well.

Gibson Andrews helped train Samantha Dunbar to be a Domme. Though he had a moment with her where he submitted, he can't afford for others to see him as weak. As much as he wanted to be with Sam and she wanted him, he walked away saying that they weren't right for each other and that he couldn't be what she needed. But when Sam is attacked and heads to her grandma's rundown house in the middle of nowhere, Gibson can't let he go alone. Knowing that Sam needs someone though she will push everyone away, Gibson agrees to spend the week with her in private and be whatever she needs. But can one week together cure the desires that Gibson is scared others will find out about?

I liked both Gibson and Sam. I thought that there was a lot of heat and chemistry between them, and it was clear that they cared about each other. I did find it hard to relate to Sam though and I think that is more of a personal thing for me. Though I have no problem with other people's kinks, I just find it hard to relate to female Dommes and male subs. There is just something sexy to me about alpha males that take control and own that side of themselves. The biggest thing that was hard for me here was that I think I might have been able to feel more connected had Gibson owned who he was and his desires. If you are a male sub there is no problem with that, but don't be embarrassed and think that is weak. It is the same thing as a female being a sub, and I have a problem with them thinking that they are weak by submitting. It takes an incredible amount of strength and confidence to give up control and trust to someone else, and I want whoever is submitting to realize the power and beauty of that. I was expecting Gibson to get over that fear and insecurity a bit earlier, and it got to the point that I was tired of waiting. I knew that with this being a novella that it was a short book, so I wanted to see him and Sam on solid ground before the very end. I just felt like the longer it took, the more rushed and abrupt the ending seemed.

There were also a few things that made me uncomfortable as far as the scenes went as well. There were a few issues with force and coercion that I just felt didn't sit right with me. Though there wasn't anything major that I could draw fault to, it felt like there were some things that just weren't exactly kosher. There was also something that happened at The Ranch at the end that I wasn't entirely comfortable with either, and I felt like it was a bit unsafe. Precautions are put in place for a reason, and though it was Gibson who made the terms the removal of a safe word is something that just doesn't sit right with me when it comes to BDSM. I don't care that he asked for it or that he trusted Sam fully, I just couldn't get behind that considering the type of play they were entering together. So while I liked Gibson and Sam, this wasn't my favorite of the series. It was hard for me to get into the story and the few things I mentioned just made this one hard to get into for me. I think a lot of this is personal issues though, and no matter what I felt about this particular story there a few things that can't be argued when it comes to Roni's work. Roni Loren is a fantastic writer and her stories are always super hot! If you are a fan of the series, I still recommend this story. If you are new to the series, you definitely should give these books a shot. This series is one of my favorites and I know I will read more from Roni in the future.

ARC Review: Call on Me by Roni Loren

Call on Me is the latest standalone novel in Roni Loren's Loving on the Edge series. I absolutely love this series, and would recommend reading these in order if you can though it isn't necessary. I love seeing each of the characters get their own story though, and it is always nice to see familiar faces as the series progresses. I have to say that I have been dying to get my hands on Pike's story though ever since I first read about him, and he was better than I ever expected. It is so hard for me to pick a favorite book or character here (because they are all so great!), but I really think that Pike might be it if I absolutely had to choose!

Pike Ryland is not looking forward to helping out with the kids charity project that he promised his friend he would do, but he wouldn't back out of a promise to a friend. Pike doesn't handle children well though, so when he first meets Oakley Easton he is already off to a bad start. Things quickly go from bad to worse when he flirts with her and she wants nothing to do with him. All Oakley wants to do is provide for her daughter and to make enough money to stop having to work her night job. When Pike stumbles onto her night job, he figures it is the perfect in to get what he wants, her calling his name. But when things quickly change from sexy encounters on the phone to passion in person, they both begin fear that they won't be able to stop from falling hard.

I really loved Pike! I knew I had liked him before, but really getting to know him here showed just how much we had yet to see from him. He had so much going on beneath the surface, and I really felt for all that he had been through. He was such a deep guy and I loved his honesty. He was sweet and kind, but also so sexy and fun. I really liked that he was so supportive of Oakley and he didn't judge her. Oakley was so easy to like. She was strong and feisty, and yet she was also able to give control up easily. Pike brought out a really great side to her, and he allowed her to trust him to take care of her and let her mind shut down for awhile. I couldn't get enough of these two together, and they were beyond hot! Seriously though my Kindle might overheat a few times throughout this one, but I have come to expect that with any book from Roni Loren! She always brings the heat, and that was no exception here. But beyond just the sexy times, I really loved seeing Pike and Oakley connecting past just the bedroom and I was so glad that Pike made her daughter a part of that as well.

Overall, this was another great addition to this series and I would be absolutely fine if Roni never ended it! I love these characters so much, and I never seem to get enough of them. Pike was fantastic and I loved seeing a different side to him, but it was also really great to see more of Foster here and how things were going for him. I also really loved getting to see more of Oakley's brother and how things had progressed for him as well. I honestly cannot say enough good things about this series, and if you haven't read any of them yet you are definitely missing out! This story was great and I am already anxious for more from Roni. She has quickly become one of my go-to authors for a great steamy story, and she never disappoints!
