Interview with Author Anton Strout and Giveaway

Meet Anton Strout, author of Incarnate.

Anton Strout was born in the Berkshire Hills mere miles from writing heavyweights Nathaniel Hawthorne and Herman Melville. He currently lives in the haunted corn maze that is New Jersey (where nothing paranormal ever really happens, he assures you).

He is currently hard at work on his next book and be found lurking the darkened hallways of antonstrout.com or talking with your favorite SF&F authors on The Once and Future Podcast (www.theonceandfuturepodcast.com), where he is host and content curator.

Coastal Magic Convention - Registration NOW OPEN!

It's here, it's here!!

Registration for the 2015 Coastal Magic Convention has begun! If you're an urban fantasy or paranormal romance reader, you need to be hanging out with us, right on the beach, next February!

Coastal Magic is a super casual, urban fantasy and paranormal romance focused convention in Daytona Beach, FL, February 5-8, 2015. There will be panels, meet & greets with fun themes, and some cool evening activities. There are 225 general registration tickets available, and the featured author list will be close to 60 once everyone is settled! It's a relatively small shindig, but full of dedicated, enthusiastic people.

I'm SO excited about the variety of authors and sub-genres represented. Everyone will have opportunity to meet and chat with their favorites, and I bet you all find some “new favorites” on the list, as well. :-) If you haven't checked out who'll be attending yet... go... do that... I'll wait... Awesome, right!!??

There will also be a charity book sale and signing open to convention attendees, and FREE to the public. The charity, once again, is Habitat For Humanity. One of the nice things about the signing is that there will be additional authors participating, so keep an eye on the charity signing page to see who sneaks in for the afternoon! The hotel information is listed on the Coastal Magic site with a link for our group rates, for those who'll be staying on site.

I (along with the other Featured Bloggers) will be hosting some of the featured authors for guest spots and promotional posts in the next few months, so make sure you're keeping an eye out for those!!

If you want more info about Coastal Magic... here's where to find it in your favorite social media worlds:

Guest Post with Author Lee Roland and Giveaway

Please welcome author Lee Roland to RFTC. Lee is celebrating the upcoming release of her book Vicious Moon and has stopped by to chat. Please give Lee a warm welcome.

Lee Roland began her writing career in middle school when she wrote a short story for her brother. He turned the story in to his teacher as his own work. To his amazement and terror, the teacher was so impressed that she read it aloud to the class—and asked him to write another one.

Lee notes that, other than motherhood, she's never had an exciting job. She might have dreamed of being a lawyer, nurse or police officer, but finding the right person to share her life with changed her plans. Her only credentials for writing are a terrific imagination, life experience and the love of words in a good story. She reads voraciously, but particularly loves Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance.

Lee lives in Florida and is a full-time writer. She is a member of RWA National and the Florida based First Coast Romance Writers.

Before being published, Lee won many RWA Chapter contests and garnered a Golden Heart nomination in 2008 with her post apocalyptic novel, LILITH'S CHILD.

Lee is the author of the Earth Witches series published by NAL, beginning with VIPER MOON in 2011.

When Cassi isn’t busy plotting or writing, she enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, caring for pets, getting outdoors, and watching sappy movies that deliver reliably happy endings.

Her work is dark, complex, action-filled and a little funny. Her Mindspace Investigations series has been called "A fun blend of Chinatown and Blade Runner" by James Knapp, and Publisher's Weekly called her "a writer to watch."

When not writing you can find Alex in the kitchen cooking gourmet Italian food, watching hours of police procedural dramas, and humming to delightfully obscure music.

Review: First Grave On The Right by Darynda Jones

Charley Davidson sees dead people. Actually, Charley is the Grim Reaper. She also moonlights as a private investigator. Being a PI allows to help her Uncle Bob who is a detective for the Albuquerque Police Department. Together they solve local crimes. Charley also helps ghosts find the closure they need to move onto heaven.

When three local lawyers are murdered, Charley is determined to uncover everything about the case to help them move on. While working on the case Charley encounters a person from her past she has never quite forgotten.

I can't wait to read the next book in this series. Darynda has created such a interesting world filled with a great cast of characters. I love the relationship between Charley and her neighbor Cookie who also doubles as her best friend/assistant. They both are very quirky and I love the back and forth banter between the two. I would also love to see more of Garret. There seemed to be a lot of chemistry brewing between him and Charley and I would love to see if anything comes of it. First Grave on the Right was a spectacular read. Charley Davidson is full of spunk and wit. It's not often that a book can make me laugh. Charley had me giggling throughout the entire story.
