Forever Blog Tour: Interview with Author Roxanne St. Claire and Giveaway

Today I would like to welcome to the blog author Roxanne St. Claire. Roxanne is currently on tour promoting her newest release, Barefoot In The Sand. Roxanne was kind enough to take the time our of her busy schedule to let me ask her a few questions, but first let's get to know Roxanne a bit.

Roxanne St. Claire is a bestselling author of thirty novels of romance and suspense. A five-time nominee and one-time winner of the prestigious RITA Award for outstanding romantic fiction, her books have also won the National Reader’s Choice Award for best romantic suspense for two consecutive years, as well as the Daphne du Maurier Award, the HOLT Medallion, the Maggie, Booksellers Best, Book Buyers Best, five Awards of Excellence, the Aspen Gold and many others

Prior to launching a full time career as a novelist in 2003, Roxanne spent most of her professional life as a marketing executive and public relations consultant. She is a graduate of UCLA, an active member of several national writing organizations, and a lecturer on a wide range of writing-related topics. She lives in Satellite Beach, Florida with her husband and their two teenagers, and if you know her, you call her Rocki.

A la Twitter style, please describe your book in 140 characters or less.
A sexy, fun, snappy romance set on a sultry island that celebrates the power of hope, second chances, and the bliss of a younger man.

What types of scenes are your most favorite to write?
I like to wallow in emotion, so I like scenes that tear the characters to shreds and force them face their fears and conquer their weaknesses. But my very favorite scene to write is one that is “clear” to me from the opening line -- when I know exactly what I’m trying to accomplish and my fingers can’t fly fast enough over the keyboard. Those are the best writing days!

If you could have dinner with any three authors (alive or dead), who would you choose and why?
My best friends, of course! Kristen Painter, Louisa Edwards, and Kresley Cole! There would be much merriment and wine! But if I had to choose to bring someone back from the dead, then definitely Margaret Mitchell, Charlotte Bronte and Louisa May Alcott. All at the same table! And let’s bring my friends, too, because Charlotte and Louisa May could be a little uptight, I think.

Last question, are you working on anything right now?
Of course! I’m writing BAREFOOT IN THE SUN, which will be out in a year and is the third book in the Barefoot Bay series. (BAREFOOT IN THE RAIN is finished and schedule for release in November, 2012.) When I finish the first draft of SUN, I’ll start another young adult novel for Random House, and then write BAREFOOT BY THE SEA. I have a busy year ahead!

When all you hold dear is taken away . . .

When a hurricane roars through Lacey Armstrong's home on the coast of Barefoot Bay, she decides all that remains in the rubble is opportunity. A new hotel is just what Mimosa Key needs, and Lacey and her teenage daughter are due for a fresh start. And nothing, especially not a hot, younger architect, is going to distract Lacey from finally making her dreams a reality.

A second chance is the only thing you have left.

Love has already cost Clay Walker everything. And if he's going to have any chance of picking up the pieces of his life, he needs the job as Lacey Armstrong's architect. What's not in the plans is falling for the headstrong beauty. Her vision of the future is more appealing than anything he could have ever drafted for himself. Will Clay's designs on Lacey's heart be more than she can handle, or will she trust him to build something that will last forever?

  2. I read both contemporary and historical books. I don't pick a book because it is contemporary or historical. It's all about the story. I read an excerpt and if it is interesting to me, then I want to read the book. I must say any book with a beach in it is a book I want to read. lol

  3. Thanks for the great interview and giveaway! I *really* would love to read this book! Have been reading such awesome buzz about it!

I read contemporary and pretty much all genres. I think I like contemporaries b/c it's nice to read a story based in real life. I think of all the different genres like the different flavors of chocolate. All sweet and satisfying but with a different twist :)

  4. Contemporaries have that sweet and homey feel to them that other genres some times are lacking! Granted I love just about all genres (well not horror) But sometimes I just want a book that makes my heart feel good!

  5. This looks like the most perfect summer read!

I mostly read contemporaries but am not opposed to historicals if the plot and characters interest me.

  6. I read a lot of other genres, and it's nice to get back to the here and now sometimes. Contemporaries generally feature people that I can relate to and I can really get into their stories. I like that Barefoot in the Sand is set in Florida during a hurricane, I can definitely relate to that (I live in Central Florida).

  7. Contemporary romances are (sometimes) more realistic and easier to fit yourself into the story!

  8. Contemporary romances deal with familiar settings and situations.

  9. Occasionally I like a great historical, but I've discovered that generally I prefer contemporaries because they're just more relatable for me. I can focus more on the story and the couple than on the historical details.

  10. I love contemporary romances because I can identify with the characters. They have the same problems and limitations I do.

  11. Love contemporaries because they offer a great read when you just want to sit and enjoy it without to much craziness. Great genre if your looking for a comfort read. Not that can't be super HOT too!
