Guest Post with Author Christy McKellen and Giveaway

Today I would like to welcome author Christy McKellen to RFTC. Christy is celebrating the release of her book Her New Worst Enemy and has stopped by to chat. Please give Christy a warm welcome.

Formerly a Video and Radio Producer, Christy now spends her time as either a slave to her children or her muse. When she’s not writing spicy romance, she can be found stomping around the South West of England, glomming her to-be-read pile or escaping from real life with her rather delicious husband.

Places to find Christy:

It’s lovely to be here today - thanks so much for having me.

Body image. It can have such an effect on your self worth can’t it? Despite our determination to love ourselves for who we are and not what we look like, when it comes down to it, a bad hair day can knock you flat on your ass.

As a teenager I suffered with acute acne, which quickly put paid to any hopes of attracting any positive male attention – at least in my own head. I would walk around with my hair over my face and even the slightest snigger in my vicinity would have my face flaming in humiliation and running for cover. I was lucky to have a very close, caring group of friends who helped me get through that rather miserable time, but for years after the – rather extreme and scary - drugs from the hospital conquered the acne I would still freeze in fear if anyone laughed behind me or if the sun shone directly on my face to show up my scars.

It was only after meeting my husband that I finally made peace with the way I look. For him to see those imperfections (even though they’re mostly in my head now) and still love me for me gave me back my confidence.

In my debut novel Her New Worst Enemy, my heroine, Ellie, is struggling with her own body issues. After spending years in a relationship with a man who would alternately scoff at and ignore her attempts to look attractive, she’s lost all sense of self worth. She deals with this by hiding herself under baggy sweaters, a mass of hair and a snarky attitude. Luckily for her, Gideon DeLancy – her brother’s best friend – sees straight through her disguise and they spend one very hot weekend together uncovering her angst and ultimately her perfectly lovely body.

What part of your body do you like the most and why?

Six months ago Ellie Holdsworthy’s life was all planned out - kids, wedding, happy ever after - until her boyfriend dumped her for another woman. Now her best friend, Penny - an heiress to a small fortune - looks set to run off with a gold-digger, and Ellie is determined to save her from certain doom . Unfortunately, the only person who can help is the one person she’d rather not ask...

Little does Ellie know, persuading her brother’s best friend - commitment phobic, playboy businessman, Gideon DeLancy - to hold an intervention at his beautiful Georgian manor would be the easy part. Keeping her hands off him is a whole other matter.

Gideon doesn’t intend to fall for his friend's snarky sister, and he sure as hell doesn’t expect their weekend to develop into a full-on sex-fest. When passion takes a strangle-hold, their differences don’t seem to matter. After all, a torrid weekend affair should be the easiest thing in the world to walk away from, so why are they finding it so difficult...?
