Guest Post with Author Erica Hayes and Giveaway

Today I would like to welcome back to RFTC, author Erica Hayes. Erica is celebrating the release of her book Redemption and has stopped by to chat. Please give Erica a warm welcome.

Erica Hayes was a law student, an air force officer, an editorial assistant and a musician, before finally landing her dream job: fantasy and romance writer.

She writes dark paranormal and urban fantasy romance, and her books feature tough, smart heroines and colourful heroes with dark secrets.

She hails from Australia, where she drifts from city to city, leaving a trail of chaos behind her. Currently, she's terrorizing the wilds of Northumberland.

Places to find Erica:

Enemies to lovers

Of all the types of romance couples, 'enemies to lovers' is one of my favorites. It's Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy all over again. They meet. Sparks fly. They decide they don't like each other, usually for good reason… but that inconvenient attraction lingers on. And they spend the rest of the story overcoming that dislike.

In my book Redemption, there's an added complication. The first time they meet, Japheth and Rose don't merely dislike each other—they're trying to kill each other. Rose is the Angel Slayer, a vampire assassin beholden to a vile demon prince. And my fallen angel hero, Japheth has been sent to hunt her down.

Two fierce warriors, pitted to the death. Mortal foes, on opposite sides of the most primal of battles: good vs. evil.

Of course, they soon learn they've got more in common than they'd like. In their own ways, both long for forgiveness. Rose desperately wants to escape her vicious demon master, who made her into a vampire against her will. And Japheth has tried for centuries to earn his way back into heaven, since he was cast out for some mysterious sin.

They're both outcasts. And both suffer the same secret doubts. Will I ever get my life back? What must I do to earn redemption? And what if… what if I deserved to be cast out? What if I'm beyond saving?

Discovering they have something in common is the first step from enemies to lovers. Mutual admiration is another. Japheth is steadfast and compassionate, and has a hidden sense of humor under his cold facade. Rose is courageous and unflinching in the face of trouble, and will sacrifice anything to protect what she loves.

And they both believe that actions speak louder than labels. Fallen angel warrior, cursed vampire assassin, whatever. It's not what you're called that counts, or what you seem to be on the outside, or even (sometimes) what you say – it's what you do when crunch time comes that's important. Evil is as evil does.

So that's the challenge for Japheth and Rose, in the midst of a demon-haunted apocalypse, while the city falls to pieces around them: can each discover the real person inside the other's shell, before it's too late?

Anyway, I had great fun with 'enemies to lovers' in Redemption. It's full of action, emotion, hot romance and juicy paranormal goodness. I hope you enjoy it!

Japheth the Tainted is on the hunt for a mysterious demon vampire. But meeting her face-to-face might disarm his warrior spirit—and spark an unquenchable passion with apocalyptic consequences.

As a fallen angel, Japheth is determined to make his way back to heaven by staying pure and slaying hellspawn. With a new scourge of vampires unleashed by a blood-drinking demon, the Prince of Thirst, there’s plenty to be done. But Japheth is after one vampire in particular—the one they call the Angel Slayer.

Rose Harley never wanted to be a vampire, but the Prince of Thirst can turn even the kindest soul into a soldier of hell. Feeling abandoned by God, she stalks the West Village taking revenge on his angels—until she meets her match.

When Japheth and Rose encounter each other, the battle is fierce and charged with desire. But when they discover a common enemy—the Prince of Thirst himself—they form a dangerous alliance that could either cost them their eternal lives, or spark a love more powerful than heaven or hell.

  11. I love enemies to lovers stories because the build-up to the "A-ha" moment is exciting. One of my favorite enemies-lover stories is Her Best Worst Mistake by Sarah Mayberry.
