Interview with Author Paige Cuccaro and Giveaway

Today I would like to welcome author Paige Cuccaro to RFTC. Paige is celebrating the recent release of From Here to Eternity and has stopped by to answer a few questions. Please give Paige a warm welcome.

Writing was never a foregone conclusion for me. I once had dreams of being a psychologist, a pediatrician, a school teacher, a photojournalist, a bartender, and/or an EMT. And then I met my husband and my world came into focus. Being wife and mother are my highest priorities and greatest joy. But escaping to the fanciful, sexy worlds twirling through my mind is an absolute necessity. Putting those worlds, and the cornucopia of characters that people them, on paper is just plain fun.

Paige lives in Ohio, with her husband, three daughters, three dogs, three cats, a parakeet and a bearded dragon named Rexy, in an ever shrinking house. When she’s not writing she can be found doing the mom thing with a book in one hand and a notepad and pen in the other. Ideas come without warning and the best way to stimulate your imagination is to enjoy the imagination of someone else.

Places to find Paige:

First off, can you tell us a bit about you?
I grew up in Pennsylvania out in the boonies on 32 acres of land. We raised quarter horses so I started riding when I was 7 years old. I started showing them in competitions when I was about 12. After living most of my live in PA, I met my husband and we moved to Ohio with our three daughters. That was fourteen years ago. It was in Ohio that I started writing and joined my local chapter of Romance Writers of America. I sold my first book in 2000 and haven’t stopped writing since.

Did you always want to be a writer?
No. I’ve been so many things. I went to school to be psychologist, and got talked out of that. I switched my major to Elementary Education, but decided 3 years in that it wasn’t as much fun as I thought it would be. I’ve been and Emergency Medical Technician, a Nail Technician, a certified mixologist, a nanny, and a picture framer. I realized that what I really wanted to be was a mother. I LOVED being a full time wife and mother, but I still needed more. I’ve always been an avid reader, so taking a stab at writing seemed a natural progression. Turns out, I liked it!

What kind of writer are you? Panster or Plotter?
I’m a plotter. If I don’t make a detailed outline, I’ll write myself into a corner every time.

Where do your ideas come from?
Everywhere. The news, books, movies. My ideas are the books I haven’t read, and the story lines I wish they’d make into a movie. They’re a twist on a news story I heard, or an experience I’ve had. Ideas can come from anywhere and anytime.

A la Twitter style, can you describe your book (or series) in 140 characters or less.
Love never dies, but Rachel did. Waking up to her obituary her husband must fill in the blanks in her memory. But how will he explain he’s done and what it means for their future?

What are some of your favorite kinds of stories to read?
Urban fantasies, romantic comedies, and pretty much anything sci-fi or paranormal.

Do you have a favorite book and if so what is it?
Interview with a Vampire, by Anne Rice. It’s the only book I’ve ever read more than once.

What are the scenes that are the hardest for you to write?
Sex scenes. More than anything sex scenes are a personal thing, personal preferences regarding the words used, the amount of detail, everything—much like the act itself. It’s impossible to please everyone but that doesn’t stop me from stressing over it.

If you could have dinner with any three authors, who would you choose and why?
Steven King, Anne Rice and James Patterson. They are truly masters of the craft and have been through all the ups and downs of this industry. I’d just love to pick their brains and benefit from their advice.

Last question, are you working on anything right now?
I’m working on a few small projects, strong on the romance, and wading through edits on the second book of my HELLSBANE series, HEAVEN AND HELLSBANE, due out this August.

If you had the chance to download all your memories and knowledge and personality into an advanced android body that looks just like you only stronger and immune to disease and aging, would you?

Love never dies…but apparently Rachel has.

Waking up one day to her obituary in the news and no recollection of the past few weeks, Rachel calls her husband, Nate, in a panic, at the research facility where he works. Nate is the inventor of CYANAs, Cybernetic Anthropoid Automatons, vessels that look exactly like humans and can store a person’s memories…and maybe even his or her soul.

When Nate arrives home, Rachel doesn’t recognize the man who claims to be her husband. Can Nate convince Rachel to fall in love with him all over again? Especially once she realizes what he’s done…and what it means for their future?

  1. I don't know if I would. I think it would be similar to amnesia, which would be rather scary waking up to. Although, maybe they can program something into your android to help with that. :) Who knows though. Maybe I'll change my mind after reading your book. It sounds good! Thanks for the great giveaway as well.

  4. I immediately thought of the movie From Here to Eternity and the famous kiss between Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr. Something to lock away all my memories would be cool.
