My Favorite Book Boyfriend with Tracey Devlyn and Giveaway

Tracey Devlyn writes historical romantic thrillers (translation: a slightly more grievous journey toward the heroine’s happy ending). She’s a co-founder of Romance University, a group blog dedicated to readers and writers of romance, and Lady Jane’s Salon-Naperville, Chicagoland’s exciting new reading salon devoted to romantic fiction.

An Illinois native, Tracey spends her evenings harassing her once-in-a-lifetime husband and her weekends torturing her characters. For more information on Tracey, including her Internet haunts, contest updates, and details on her upcoming novels, please visit her website at www.TraceyDevlyn.com.

Places to find Tracey:

Danielle, thank so much for inviting me back to Ramblings!

My all-time favorite book boyfriend is Derek Craven of Lisa Kleypas’s Dreaming of You. He’s one of those characters that stays with you long after you finish the book. In looking back, I believe Craven and Dreaming of You had a great deal of influence on the style of books I write. Craven’s a ruthless guy. You know right away he’s a product of London’s Underworld and continues to dwell there without apology. He’s also an incredibly handsome man, though he’s not concerned with his appearance and is prone to slipping into his native Cockney when under duress or angry.

And he calls the heroine “mouse.” This is my favorite part.

What a great contrast, don’t you think? A hard, uncompromising gaming hell owner using such a gentle endearment for the novelist who has invaded his kingdom. His fascination with Sara Fielding compels the reader to keep turning the pages to see what his next, inappropriate move might be. Because when it comes to the mouse, Derek Craven simply cannot turn off the instinct to chase.

Thanks again!
Tracey

She stood at danger's threshold -- then love beckoned her in.

In the shelter of her country cottage, Sara Fielding puts pen to paper to create dreams. But curiosity has enticed the prim, well-bred gentlewoman out of her safe haven -- and into Derek Craven's dangerous world.

A handsome, tough and tenacious Cockney, he rose from poverty to become lord of London's most exclusive gambling house -- a struggle that has left Derek Craven fabulously wealthy, but hardened and suspicious. And now duty demands he allow Sara Fielding into his world -- with her impeccable manners and her infuriating innocence. But here, in a perilous shadow-realm of ever-shifting fortunes, even a proper "mouse" can be transformed into a breathtaking enchantress -- and a world-weary gambler can be shaken to his cynical core by the power of passion...and the promise of love.

    1. Amy, I haven't read Lisa's Texas series yet, but I've have heard many wonderful things about it. She also has a new Friday Harbor series, which has a mystical element. On top of GREAT writing, Lisa is an extremely nice person. Got to meet her a few years ago at conference. Talk about a fangirl moment!

And, Amy, thanks so much for loving my stories. I'm really looking forward to Ethan's debut, too.

  8. Good morning, Tracey. I will have to add this book to my list. Derek Craven sounds yummy! I think my all-time favorite book boyfriend is Jimmy Nash from Suzanne Brockmann's Flashpoint. He's wonderfully flawed, but so lovable. I'm also secretly crushing on Jonah Macon from Laura Griffin's Snapped. If you love an alpha male, Jonah fits the bill!
