Guest Post with Author Jeannie Moon and Giveaway

Meet author Jeannie Moon.

Jeannie Moon has always been a romantic. When she’s not spinning tales of her own, Jeannie works as a school librarian, thankful she has a job that allows her to immerse herself in books and call it work. Married to her high school sweetheart, Jeannie has three kids, three lovable dogs and a mischievous cat and resides on Long Island, NY. If she’s more than ten miles away from salt water for any longer than a week, she gets twitchy. Unexpectedly Yours is the second book in her Forever Love Series. Places to find Jeannie:

Josh and Caroline from Unexpectedly Yours: Finding Your Other Half.

Characters often have insight into each other we authors find surprising, so when I was thinking about this post and I wondered what Josh and Caroline, the hero and heroine in my second Forever Love Story, Unexpectedly Yours, thought about each other.

They didn’t hold back—here’s what they had to say…

Caroline Rossi, geotechnical engineer and aspiring romance author:

I have such strong memories of Josh from when I was younger. I was five when my father left his frenetic life on Wall Street to become an estate manager and our family moved onto the Rossi’s estate on Long Island.

We’d been living in New York City and I remember the change in lifestyle being a challenge for all of us. We’d gone from having what I considered a perfectly sized apartment, with a park two blocks away to having acres and acres of land outside the front door of our big house on the estate grounds.

The Rossi kids and Campbell kids became fast friends. Josh was the oldest and I worshipped him the minute I laid eyes on him. He was eleven and I think, even back then, I knew he’d be mine someday. He was loyal and protective and he always looked out for those who needed it most, and while he doesn’t remember, he protected me from my older sister’s teasing more than once. These are the same traits that brought me back to Josh as an adult.

He sensed the problems I was having with my boss; rescued me from a Friday night setup; encouraged me when I hesitated stepping out of my comfort zone. He was everything I wasn’t, bold and brave, but what surprised me most was that he didn’t surprise me at all. The Josh of my dreams, the one I wanted him to be, was exactly who he was—smart, down-to-earth and yes, unendingly loyal. And the most amazing thing? He loves me. This strong, handsome, brilliant man, loves me—the wallflower—and he loves me just as I am.

The best feeling in the world is knowing I’ve been right about him all along, that he deserved every unrequited, adolescent tear I’d shed. Josh would tell you that I love being right…and I do.

Josh Campbell, private equity fund manager:

Caroline was always just my best friend’s little sister who tagged along when we had important boy stuff to do. I didn’t pay much attention to her, but I did try to watch out for her when her when she was picked on by her older sister, Meg. Caroline was always the quieter of the Rossi siblings, but what I didn’t know back then, when we were kids, was that all that quiet translated into a lot of strength.

Caroline is the strongest person I know. She’s smart as a whip, and beautiful to the core, but it’s her inner strength that finally captured my heart.

There’s nothing in the world like a woman with nerve.

She does nothing halfway, and while she may be unsure and tentative, she does what everyone else is afraid to do, she puts her heart and soul into everything. She did it for me. She gave me all her love, never questioning and it saved me. Caroline saved me from focusing on money rather than people, she helped me be closer to my brother. Hell, the bottom line was that she saved me from myself.

Loving Caroline has been the easiest and hardest thing I’ve ever done. It’s the easiest because she makes me happier than I’ve ever been, but it’s hard because I have to constantly work to deserve her.

It’s true. She once commented that I was out of her league. I laughed because if anything, she’s way out of mine, and I will spend the rest of my life telling her just that.

Thank you so much for reading. Tell me, who’s surprised you recently?

It was a win-win arrangement…until Caroline lost her heart…

Caroline Rossi needs to reinvent her life. Being a geotechnical engineer hasn’t exactly proved to be a guy magnet. She’s never really had the opportunity to let her hair down and have fun. But when a chance encounter with her big sister’s brother-in-law—millionaire Josh Campbell—leads to a night of unexpected passion, Caroline starts engineering an arrangement that will give them both what they want. She can help Josh with an important real estate project and he can school her in the art of amour. At first Josh balks—but there’s something irresistible about Caroline, something very different from the bombshells he usually dates.

Can the friends with benefits agreement really work? Or are Caroline and Josh playing a dangerous game that may end in heartbreak?

  2. Most recently it was the kindness of a stranger who helped me during a medical emergency. Usually people in my area (the Philly area) are not so very nice, but this person helped me through a moment of crisis. I plan on sending a Thank you to Leslie at CVS in Marlton, NJ as soon as I am physically able.

    1. Sandra, that is a wonderful thing. When our fellow humans surprise with kindness because it was the right thing to do, it restores our faith. Thanks for sharing this.

    1. Thanks, Karen! (I loved the cover too. I gasped, happily, when I saw it for the first time.) Little things are what keep a relationship going, I think. It's what I try to do in my romances, with the occasional grand gesture. Thanks so much for commenting.

  5. My 10 year old son is a very picky eater. EVERY Thanksgiving he eats only mashed potatoes, gravy, bread and cranberry sauce. This year he actually ate some turkey and said, "Mom, this turkey isn't so bad." I was surprised.

  6. My 2 year old shocked me when we were at a 4 way stop and she pointed to the stop sign and said, "That's an octagon, Mommy!"

    What? Where is my baby?

    1. An octagon? At two? Oh, jeez. That's priceless, (and full of awesome) but you'd better start saving your pennies for that big, fancy college...

  8. Ok, not necessarily a life changing surprise but the night before Thanksgiving my niece surprised me by telling me we had one more for dinner the next day, a cousin of her husband who had come in from Nebraska... We'd never met, so a surprise indeed... lisagk(at)yahoo

    1. Someone new at your table on a special day is always good. That would have put a smile on my face. (As long as I wasn't at risk of running out of chairs....)

  10. My kids surprise me on a daily basis it seems, but I can't think of a specific instance at this moment. They just sometimes say the most random things that surprise me, or they'll do something really sweet.

  11. My husband of 20 years tries to surprise me; but he has only accomplished that in the last 2 years at Christmas with special jewelry that he chose in my stocking. I love that he does not give up; but he has to stop asking me "do you like..." it gives away the surprise. :)
