Guest Post with Author Selena Blake and Giveaway

Meet author Selena Blake.

In America, Thanksgiving is just around the corner and it's around this time each year that as a nation we look back on our past and look within ourselves. We take stock of our lives, count our blessings and remember to be thankful.

But what do werewolves do at Thanksgiving?

They eat of course.

Here's an exclusive look at a Deveraux Pack Thanksgiving.

Let's get a lay of the land, shall we? The Deveraux pack includes five hunky, highly carnivorous male werewolves: Sebastian, the Alpha; Andre, the beta; Jules, their younger brother; Burke, their eldest cousin; and Laurent, Burke's younger brother.

Two human females: Amanda, Sebastian's wife and Angelica, Jules wife.

Add to that, Laurent's mate Violet, a vampire (who doesn't eat but makes kick @$$ biscuits) and André's mate Juliette, a carnivorous werewolf with a baby on the way. This variety Pack wouldn't be complete without Burke's true love Kendall, a vegetarian werecoyote.

And we certainly can't forget Amanda and Sebastian's two quickly growing babies.

To say they eat is putting it mildly.

This Thanksgiving feast is a celebration and merger of this Pack's French, Cajun and American roots. With all those mouths to feed, there are three turkeys on the menu. One made the traditional way, one Cajun style, and another deep fried.

Also on tap: an extra large pan of Cajun rice dressing, the biggest bowl of mashed potatoes you've ever seen, herbed haricots verds (aka skinny French green beans - at Juliette's request), Cajun corn casserole (Amanda's request), a basket full of biscuits (made with love by Violet), sweet potato casserole (Angelica's request), plenty of gravy, and of course, cranberry sauce.

What did the men request (other than three turkeys?) Seven pies.

Surely that's enough food to feed a small army. Or one Wolfpack.

What are your favorite Thanksgiving dishes? Care to share a recipe?

I'll go first. Here's my mom's Sweet Potato Soufflé recipe. Bon appétit!

3 cups cooked mashed sweet potatoes (Canned potatoes work well also.)
1 cup sugar (less if desired)
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1/3 stick softened butter
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla

Beat the eggs and then add all the above ingredients mixing well. Pour into a buttered baking dish and add topping.

Topping

1 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup flour
1/2 stick melted butter
1 cup chopped nuts (I use pecans)

Mix the topping ingredients well and spread over the potato mixture. Bake for 30 minutes on 350 degrees.

  1. One of my favorite recipes is turnip fluff - unfortunately, it is a recipe I still need to get from my mother! It is basically baked, whipped, sweetened turnip. I know it sounds odd, but it is seriously yummy.

  2. My favorite recipes are sugar-free pies. My mom makes them for me and hasn't yet shared the recipe. I can share the recipe for old-fashioned Southern Tea Cakes, if you like. They are a simple sugar cookie that you can make quickly by rolling into balls and mashing with the sugared bottom of a drinking glass or beautify by chilling, rolling out, using cookie cutters and then decorating when cooled. They are delicious. Let me know...

  3. sadly, I can't cook... at all... so I greatly appreciate Thanksgiving and all the hard work and fabulous dishes that my family makes. I love stuffing!!! That's my fav and I look forward to it every year :)

    1. Yum. Me too! Although I had stuffing once with water chestnuts in it and wasn't a fan. But most of the time, it's a favorite of mine.

  7. My favorite Thanksgiving dishes are sweet potato pie and cornbread dressing. I don't have good recipes yet (other family members make them).
