The Passionate, Enticing, Reckless Blog Tour with Cara Elliott, Lily Dalton, and Vicky Dreiling

Cara Elliott started writing Western novels at the age of five. Later she changed her genre to Regency romance after reading Pride and Prejudice. She graduated from Yale University, and she now lives and works in New York City.

Find Cara at:

Describe your book in a 140 characters (a la Twitter).
Cara Elliott: A young lady who writes passionate poetry, a hunky Scottish hero with a dark secret, a devilishly dangerous intrigue—let the sparks fly!

What’s your favorite term that was popular during your book’s time period but not so much now (and what does it mean)?
Cara Elliott: Havey-cavey. It means something is suspicious, or isn’t quite on the up and up.

If your life was made into a movie, who would you want to play you and why?
Cara Elliott: Oh, hard question! I think maybe Gwyneth Paltrow in her “Shakespeare In Love” persona. I love that fearlessness and willingness to pursue her passion, no matter that all the rules said that “girls can’t do that!”

What’s one thing you can tell us about your couple that we won’t find in the book?
Cara Elliott: I can assure you that they live happily ever after. Because Love conquers all!

Describe your hero in three words.
Cara Elliott: Honorable. Sexy. Exasperating. (Aren’t all men!)

The youngest of the Hellions of High Street, Caro Sloane has watched her two sisters have exhilarating encounters with dashing heroes, and now she is longing for some excitement of her own. After all, how can she write truly passionate poetry until she has experienced a Grand Adventure? But that seems unlikely to happen as she'll be spending the next few weeks in the quiet spa town of Bath, where nothing grand or adventurous ever happens . . . until she and her new friend Isobel are nearly abducted while walking on a quiet country road-only to be rescued by Alec McClellan, the moody and mysterious Scottish lord she met at Dunbar Castle.

Alec has come to England to deal with a treacherous betrayal and fears that his half-sister Isobel is in peril from an old enemy. Does he dare share his secrets with Caro? The bold and brave beauty leaves him no choice, and together they are quickly caught up in a swirl of dangerous intrigue . . . where fiery desire between them may ignite into the greatest danger of all.

Lily lives in Texas where she writes looking out over a garden tended by her handsome, big-hearted Tex-Czech husband. She suffers endless (fun and always welcome!) interruptions by her two children. And like many authors, she writes with a cat—or two—wrapped around her legs.

Places to find Lily:

Describe your book in a 140 characters (a la Twitter).
Lily Dalton: Daphne will do anything to help a friend, even masquerade as a dancer at a house of ill repute. When a raid by the authorities threatens to expose her identity, she finds a hero and safety in the arms of Cormack, Lord Raikes, a sinfully sexy man with a dangerous secret of his own. #NeverEnticeAnEarl

What’s your favorite term that was popular during your book’s time period but not so much now (and what does it mean)?
Lily Dalton: When my brother and I were young, we used to challenge each other to a round of fisticuffs, which was a known term during the Regency and means “fighting with the fists”. I can’t say the word without smiling, because the word doesn’t bring to mind a manly brawl, but something more comical – a silly pretend-fight with my brother.

If your life was made into a movie, who would you want to play you and why?
Lily Dalton: I would choose Rachel McAdams with her hair long and flowing, and dyed dark brown! But if we’re going for realism…maybe Patricia Heaton!

What’s one thing you can tell us about your couple that we won’t find in the book?
Lily Dalton: That Cormack and Daphne will have a wonderful first Christmas! If you’ve read the first book in the One Scandalous Season Series, NEVER DESIRE A DUKE (Sophia and Claxton’s story) you know that Cormack is there in the epilogue, enjoying his first Christmas with the family. He just isn’t identified by name.

Describe your hero in three words.
Lily Dalton: Loyal. Conflicted. Smitten.

Lady Daphne Bevington would do anything for her maid Kate-including masquerading as Kate and sneaking around the wrong side of London to settle the poor girl's debt. Yet her innocent ruse takes a scandalous turn when "Kate" runs into a handsome gentleman on a secret quest of his own. A moment of passion could cost Daphne her reputation, but how can she ignore the stranger's searing kiss?

An Arrangement Most Wicked

Lord Cormack Northmore is determined to find the immoral peer who ruined his sister. So when he learns that the irresistible woman he knows as "Kate" is the Season's most sought-after debutante, Cormack plans to use her connections to help him set a trap. Now, the closer Cormack gets to uncovering the villain who haunts the ton's ballrooms, the more he realizes that the lovely lady is in danger herself. Will he abandon his quest for revenge-or risk losing his one chance at love?

Triple RITA finalist Vicky Dreiling is a confirmed historical romance junkie and Anglophile. Frequent business trips to the UK allowed her to indulge her passion for all things Regency England. Bath, Stonehenge, and Spencer House are among her favorite places. She is, however, truly sorry for accidentally setting off a security alarm in Windsor Castle. That unfortunate incident led her British colleagues to nickname her “Trouble.” Vicky is a native Texan and holds degrees in English literature and marketing.

Places to find Vicky:
Site Blog Facebook Twitter Goodreads |

Describe your book in a 140 characters (a la Twitter).
Vicky Dreiling: Colin Brockhurst, Earl of Ravenshire will lose his ancestral property unless he weds, but the only woman available is his nemesis Angeline.

What’s your favorite term that was popular during your book’s time period but not so much now (and what does it mean)?
Vicky Dreiling: Bachelor fare. It meant a woman of easy virtue.

If your life was made into a movie, who would you want to play you and why?
Vicky Dreiling: Kate Winslet because I loved her in Sense & Sensibility, one of my favorite Jane Austen movies/books.

What’s one thing you can tell us about your couple that we won’t find in the book?
Vicky Dreiling: They were born only a few weeks apart.

Describe your hero in three words.
Vicky Dreiling: Drop dead gorgeous.

Will the Rogue's Perfect Plan...

Colin Brockhurst, Earl of Ravenshire, has no desire to wed, this season or any other. So when his father demands he give up his wild ways and take a wife, Colin refuses. But his father raises the stakes and threatens to sell the ancestral home if Colin doesn't comply. Now Colin has no choice but to find a wife. Unfortunately, the only woman he wants is the one whose heart he broke years ago.

Lead to the Perfect Seduction?

Regardless of the ton's whispers, Lady Angeline Brenham won't settle for anything less than true love. After rejecting more than her share of suitable suitors, spinsterhood looms before her—until the devilishly handsome Colin reappears in her life with a proposition. Angeline vows to keep her feet on the ground and her heart in check. That is, until one searing kiss melts her resolve and reignites a burning desire for more.

  1. I'm going to surmise that Vicky is the "Trouble" component of this blog tour (if that's not so, by all means please set me straight). Cara and Lily: what roles do you each play in your trio?

    1. I bought the first historical romance by accident, Janice. I picked up a paperback with a pretty pink dress. My then-preschooler took off running in the supermarket. I forgot all about the book until I got home. It was Judith McNaught's Almost Heaven. I was hooked from the first page. That's why I write historical romance.

  13. These all sound like great reads. I like some of the terms they used for inebriation, such as foxed, that we no longer use.

  16. Hi Cara, Lily and Vicky!

I actually have a question for each of you!

    Cara -
I can't wait to find out how Cara convinces Alec to reveal his secrets! Can you give us a hint?

    Lily -
My 2 questions for you! How does Daphhen end up in Cormack's arms and when does he find out that she's not really "Kate"? I loved reading Never Desire A Duke and am so glad that Cormack now has his own story!

    Hi Vicky -
Can you give us a hint on how Colin broke Angeline's heart years ago?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Haven't read any of these authors before

  18. I love you choice of favorite terms! I wonder how many still get used today in certain posh circles?

  19. These all sound like amazing reads!!

  21. The covers are very lovely, especially the colors etc. Sinfully Yours has a different color palette of golden autumn colors, which was especially eye appealing to me.

  22. This is pretty exciting, have three of my favorite authors all in the same blog tour. And the favorite terms of the three authors really caught my attention. "Havey-cavey" is a term my maternal grandparents used and I wondered where it came from. And "fisticuffs" is interesting too in that I sounded frivolous to me and now I know it's just a more proper term for brawling with fists. And I like Vicky's term "bachelor fare" because it just goes to show that only the words have changed with the times...that there will always be terms to represent ladies of the night. Thanks for this wonderful tour post! jdh2690@gmail.com
