My favourite indulgences…

What would life be without the indulgences to keep us feeling satisfied and happy? Personally, I like to keep the big-ticket items to a minimum, and focus on things that make me feel creative, grounded and connected to the special people in my life.

These are my top five favourite indulgences:

1. Me Time: Is that a bad thing for a romance author to say? My number one way to indulge myself is with a quiet space, a big blanket and a new book. A few quiet hours reading on the weekend helps me recharge after the work week and is an instant way to put me in a good mood.

2. Perfume: I’ve always had a love of perfume. I think it comes from the fact that my father used to buy my mother a new bottle every time he went away on business, and her vanity was scattered with these beautiful, shiny bottles. A spritz of a sentimental scent (like En Passant, which I wore on my wedding day) instantly makes me feel like a million bucks.

3. Coffee: Going to a nice café and sitting down with a flat white is one of life’s simple pleasures for me. My husband and I love to head out to our favourite cafe on the weekends and find somewhere to sit and have a drink while we talk about our goals and life-plans.

4. Parks and rec: I’m a city girl through and through. But one thing I love about living in Toronto is the gorgeous parks we have! I’m lucky enough to live near a huge park that has walking trails, an off-leash dog path (I don’t have a dog myself, unfortunately, so I have to live vicariously through other pet owners!) and in Spring the cherry blossoms are simply amazing.

5. New fabric: I started sewing late last year and I have been well and truly hooked on learning how to make my own clothes. So now one of my biggest indulgences is some new fabric to play with.

Her one-night stand will never find out. Wrong. The gorgeous guy she slept with isn’t just amazing in bed…he’s also her new boss.
Parker Wentworth has just been appointed CEO of his family’s company and is tasked with repairing its scandalous reputation. He can’t afford any distractions. So why can’t he forget the incredible night they spent together and move on?

  1. Epsom (and bubble) bath for my plantar fasciitis, aches, and pains ... reading a book ... with a cordless phone beside me in case the phone rings (as it ALWAYS seems to ring when I'm unavailable).
After that? Watching/listening to my recorded TV shows while catching up on my newspapers for the week.
    Multi-tasking at its finest, LOL.

  2. I like quiet. If it is a weekend when the college girls come home and our house is loud and crazy, I love Monday morning when they are back to school and hubby is at work. The house is perfectly quiet. Of course after a few days of that, then I miss the girls and wish they were home.

So in order to calm and keep my binges in check i allow myself to eat something a lil bad for me. Like putting a s small piece of cheese on my turkey burger 🍔.
