ARC Review: Anything But Love by Daisy Prescott

Anything But Love is the third standalone story in the Wingmen series by Daisy Prescott. You do not need to read these in order to understand them, but they are interconnected. I have read and enjoyed Daisy's books in the past, so I was really excited for Anything But Love. While there were things I liked here, overall this one was just okay for me.

Erik Kelso has worked hard to start his coffee company in Whidbey, so he heads to Cabo with his brother Carter for a weekend filled with sun and girls. But when he meets Caribou Caldwell, things get off on the wrong foot and Erik finds himself torn between thinking she is his worst nightmare but also his fantasy come to life. When Erik finds himself suddenly the center of attention, things change once again between him and Cari. Is there more to their connection, and what happens when Erik is no longer just a small town guy but the man that everyone wants?

I liked Erik and Cari, but my biggest issue was that I just couldn't relate to them. I found myself struggling to care about them, and I just wasn't really feeling anything between them. Don't get me wrong there was attraction and I could tell that they liked one another when they weren't bickering, but I just didn't ever really feel their connection. They had some sexy moments and I did enjoy their banter, but it wasn't enough for me to ever be completely sold that these two were falling in love with one another.

I also have to say that for the first third to half of the book I had a tough time even getting into the story. It was slow and there was a ton of set-up with not a lot happening. Things were very dry, and it was all I did this and I did that and then I did this. It just wasn't what I was used to from Daisy's books and it didn't have that same light, humorous yet sexy feel her stories typically do. There was nothing to hold my attention or captivate me as there usually is with her stories. So while I did things about this book, this wasn't my favorite of hers. While it wasn't a bad book, it did feel forced at times coming off as disjointed and without the effortless flow I am used to with her books. I know I will read more from Daisy in the future, but for me Erik and Cari's story was just okay.

RFTC I've Got a Secret Event with Author Daisy Prescott

USA Today Bestselling author Daisy Prescott has published five novels and five Modern Love Story Shorts. Her lucky number also happens to be five. She lives in a real life Stars Hollow in the Boston suburbs with her husband and their imaginary house goats. When not in her writing cave, she can be found traveling, gardening, baking, and talking about herself in the third person.

ARC Review: We Were Here by Daisy Prescott

We Were Here is the standalone prequel to the Modern Love Stories series from Daisy Prescott. For those that area already fans of the gang from Geoducks Are For Lovers, this story is an absolute must read! Don't worry if you are new to the series though, this is actually a great place to start as you get to see how all the characters met and became friends here! I have read a few of the other books in the series and really loved them, but after reading We Were Here I can't wait to go back and read every single one of them. This was such a fun read, and Daisy Prescott is a great writer!

Set in the early 1990s, We Were Here tells the story about how all your favorite Geoducks couples met. Quinn, Gil, Ben, Selah, Jo, Maggie, and Lizzy are all in college and are just starting their friendships and falling in love for the first time. They thought they knew everything, but it turns out that many things they thought they knew they didn't. Set over the course of their college years, each of these characters has their own story told through their POV.

I loved seeing these characters get to know one another and form these life long connections with each other. It was so interesting to get a glimpse at their past and how it all started, and to be able to see that through each POV. I loved these characters before, but getting this unique look into their younger selves just made me love them that much more. This group of characters is really special, and I am so glad that Daisy Prescott gave us the chance to experience how their bond became so solid. Daisy Prescott is great at finding the perfect balance of love, friendship, emotion, humor and steam. This book, as with everything I have read from her, was enjoyable from the very first page and held my attention to the very end. I highly recommend anything by Daisy, and I can't wait to read more from her.

ARC Review: Missionary Position by Daisy Prescott

Missionary Position by Daisy Prescott was one of the best books I have read in awhile. I blazed through this one because I loved it so much, and then was sad once I had finished that I didn't pace myself better. This book was so good though, and I loved everything about it. It was funny and witty, but sexy and sweet. This one had it all, and I cannot wait to read more from Daisy Prescott after finishing this one. This one is definitely a must read.

Selah is an art history professor that specializes in the female form, and on the side she writes pirate erotica. She leaves Oregon to head to Africa where she will study sculptures for six months. On her way to Africa with a stopover in Amsterdam ahead, she meets Anita and immediately they hit it off. Anita tells her that while she is in Amsterdam she should meet up with her brother Gerhard. Selah makes plans to meet up with him after they both attend a work function. She meets a sexy stranger at the museum while working and then heads to the hotel bar where she is to meet Gerhard. When Gerhard shows up he is no other than the sexy stranger she had just met. They get along well and there is attraction between them, but with Selah leaving soon they keep things friendly. Selah heads to Africa, but continues to talk and text Gerhard. Things are complicated for Selah and Gerhard, and Selah isn't one for love. But things get even more complicated when Selah is introduced to the man Kai that her new friends in Africa have told her about. Selah quickly finds herself in a situation unlike any she has been before. Can she open herself to the possibility of love and a future that has love and not just sex?

I really loved the characters in this story. I thought that Selah was great. She was smart and funny, witty and open. She was comfortable with herself, and I loved that she was able to be who she was and be happy with that. She wasn't afraid of adventure and she was easy to like and relate to. I also loved Gerhard and Kai. Gerhard was so sexy in his suits and professional wear, and I loved the exchanges between him and Selah. He was just as quick witted as Selah and I loved their banter. Kai was adventurous and fun loving and brought out this whole other side to Selah. He was so passionate and sexy. He had learned from his past and was doing what he felt strongly about. I thought that the connection Selah was forming with him was so strong and believable, and the the chemistry was amazing. I loved watching them figure everything out and fall in love. Their relationship was so real because you could see that even though they loved each other, life has a way of making things complicated and sometimes there are obstacles that we have to face that can make or break a relationship.

I wish I could say more about this book, but honestly I do not want to ruin the twists and turns. Trust me, this one needs to be read without knowing what happens. There is so much that I never expected, and I absolutely loved the way that Daisy Prescott had everything play out. This story was so well written and I loved Daisy's writing style. I was instantly sucked in and with each new development I just fell that much more in love with the characters and their story. This is one of those books that will stick with me and that I will go back an read when I want a great story to just lose myself in. This is a must read for contemporary fans looking for a light and sexy romance with humor and witty banter. I look forward to reading more from Daisy Prescott in the future.
