Feature: Moore Than a Feeling by Julie A. Richman

"Holly and Aiden broke up? Seriously? No way. Not those two."

Dumped.
No, not only dumped.
Blindsided and dumped.

I thought that Aiden McManus was my forever, my soulmate,
That was until he told me he was still in love with his ex.

I didn't want to believe him.
So, I convinced myself that our break-up was because of his upcoming deployment,
and not because he didn't love me.
Believing that, helped me get through those first months.

But after a while, I realized I just might be lying to myself.
And it was time to move on...

So, I moved on. Or tried to move on, anyway.
But that didn’t work out so well for me, either.
And it practically got me disowned from my family.

After that, I finally started to get my life back together,
I had everything back under control…
…Or so I thought.

Until I found out Aiden was back

And now he’s everywhere I turn,
Still pushing me away,
telling me he doesn’t want me.

But every time he calls me Angel or reaches out to touch my cheek,
I know what he's not admitting to himself –
He still loves me.

And I'm going to prove it to him.

ARC Review: Love on the Edge of Time by Julie A. Richman

I have been a fan of Julie A. Richman's since I first read her Needing Moore series. I knew I wanted to read this book after reading the blurb, and I can honestly say that I haven't read a story quite like this one before. While it reminds me a bit of the Blue Bloods series by Melissa De La Cruz, this one had several differences as well. I am a bit torn on this story though, and while it kept me on the edge of my seat, I also was left feeling as though this wasn't everything I had been hoping for so it was a bit bittersweet once I had finished.

Jesse Winslow is a bad boy rocker and Kylie Martin is a former pageant queen. Both have demons that they continue to struggle with that keep messing up their lives. When the two of them meet though, their connection is one they can't explain or fight. But the one person that might be able to help both of them also has a secret, and that is that she knows the entire truth. Dr. Claire Stoddard knows everything that could help Jesse and Kylie, but she also has done the forbidden and fallen in love with her patient Jesse. Though Kylie and Jesse search and find each other in lifetime after lifetime, Claire isn't about to let Kylie take Jesse from her yet again.

I really loved getting to see these characters and their history through the regressions. I was captivated by Kylie and Jesse and their pasts as well as the present. Their connection was undeniable and was one that nothing could stand in the way of. I loved seeing the growth and progress that each of them made here. This story was full of love and heartbreak, jealousy and history. There is so much more to this story than meets the eye, and is truly worth the read.

But if I am honest, this story was a bit hard to get into and the ending was what changed it all for me. Luckily while this one started a bit slow, it picked up and at that point I couldn't put it down. It was beautifully written and I was emotionally invested in what would happen for these characters. It wasn't at all what I thought it was going to be, with plenty of twists and turns. But what really left me wanting was the ending. I wasn't fully satisfied, and I felt like it didn't really do the story justice. I wanted closure and it didn't feel like we really got it. While I am sure that there are a lot of readers that will love this story and feel like it was exactly as it should have been, I just felt like for me it was a bit bittersweet.

ARC Review: The Do-Over by Julie A. Richman

I have really loved everything I have read from Julie A. Richman, but second chance love stories are some of my absolute favorites. When I read the blurb for The Do-Over, I knew I had to read it. Julie showed me once again why I love her books so much, as this story was one I couldn't put down. I really enjoyed it, and I think that readers are really going to love Wes and Tara's story!

Wes and Tara met on a cruise ship, though they had both been circling the same scene for their entire lives. When they met though, they both knew that there was a connection there unlike any they had felt before. But circumstances had them going their separate ways. Years go by and having recently divorced, Tara decided to move forward with her life. After a string of bad dates though, she finds herself having a fling, something she never thought that she would do. But when Tara realizes that her fling happens to be a big shot for her company's newest client, she never expects that that same company's CEO is none other than Wes. Now years later, they are once again thrust back into each other's lives, but could they possibly have another chance at what could have been, or will there still be too many obstacles standing in their way?

I love Julie's books because they are always so honest, heartfelt and genuine. Her characters feel so real and true to life. I felt that so much here with Wes and Tara. They had so much between them, yet time and circumstances were not always on their side. I really felt emotionally connected to them, because sometimes in real life that is a huge factor in if a relationship can work and it was obvious that these two were victims of that. They were perfect for one another, with off the charts chemistry and a strong bond. I was rooting for them right from the start, and I knew that they belonged together.

This journey had it's ups and downs, but I loved being along for the ride. Things weren't easy for these two, and there was so much more to them than you might first think. I loved the secondary characters, which wasn't a surprise as Julie's books always have such a rich cast of characters, The Do-Over being no different. Each character had a purpose, without which the story wouldn't have been complete. This book was deep and emotional, yet funny and heartwarming. I really enjoyed it and I think that if you like second chance romance stories this is definitely one you are going to want to check out. I am a huge fan of Julie Richman, and I am looking forward to seeing what she writes next.

ARC Review: Slave to Love by Julie A. Richman

I have loved Julie A. Richman's books since I first met Schooner! I couldn't have been more excited to get a new standalone from her, and after reading the blurb I knew I was going to enjoy it. Slave to Love was really good, and Julie just proved once again how great of a writer she is. I really love her characters and books, and they are all so easy to get lost in. Fun and sexy, yet emotional enough to keep you invested from the first page, Julie A. Richman never disappoints.

Sierra Stone and Hale Lindstrom first meet when Sierra's boss introduces Hale as their new client. Their first meeting doesn't get off to a great start though, and Hale ignores Sierra. But the worst is when he gets inappropriate with her after a business meeting. Sierra might be successful, but everything she has is a reflection of her dignity rather than the success those around her have received for sleeping their way to the top. But when her boss loans her out to Hale for a special project, Sierra knows that she will have to find a way to work with Hale. The chemistry between them is there right from the start, but it starts to get dangerous when they get to know one another and feelings become involved. Though they want to see where things between them could go, they know they need to stay away from one another personally until they are no longer professionally linked. But Hale has secrets and Sierra is afraid to fully let Hale in. Can they find a way to move forward together after their project is done, or will there be too many obstacles standing in their way?

I liked both Hale and Sierra. Sierra was strong and driven, and I absolutely loved her integrity. Here was a successful woman who could hold her own, and yet she wasn't made out to be some cold man-eater. She was fun and sassy, and I adored her friendship with her girls. She was so easy to like and beneath her tough exterior she had such a vulnerability to her. I felt for her and she was just one of those characters that you want to hang out with in real life! Hale had his moments where he really frustrated me, and yet I couldn't help but love him. He was sexy and driven as well, and both him and Sierra shared such a passion for their work. But that was nothing compared to the connection they shared with one another. The more they got to know each other and let each other in, the more obvious it was that they were meant for one another. Their chemistry was never in question here, and the sparks were flying from their very first meeting.

I will say that my one big complaint here though was that the ending was so rushed and abrupt feeling. As I approached the end of this book and it kept showing what percent I was at, I kept wondering when we were going to get the resolution we needed and the truth is I don't feel that we fully did. While the epilogue was great and I enjoyed seeing how things ultimately turned out, I felt like the things that had got between them and kept them apart weren't ever dealt with. Things were wrapped up far too easily and while that is a nice place to stop, I feel like we just didn't see how they got there or that anything had really changed. Hale had made some poor choices and Sierra had a reason for walking away, and while he might have felt bad and still wanted her it was all just sort of swept under the rug. As much as I loved this book, that ending left me feeling a bit bittersweet about the whole book since that was the last thing I had to go on. There were a few times that this book was a bit slow and the details of the job they were working on as well as them not being together because they were working together sort of lost me, but overall I really enjoyed this story. I think had it not been for those things and the ending this one would have been a five star read for me. Julie A. Richman is still a great writer and this book is one I would recommend, especially to those who like contemporary romance or office romance stories. I know this won't be the last I read from Julie A. Richman and if you haven't read anything by her yet, you should definitely give her a shot.
