ARC Review: Taken by Rebecca Brooke

Taken is the third standalone story in Rebecca Brooke's Traded series. Each book can be read on it's own, but I definitely recommend reading this series from the start as it is fantastic! I have really enjoyed them all, and if you are a fan of mafia romance stories this series is one I think you'll enjoy as well. Rebecca Brooke was a new author to me when I started this series, but she has become one that I really look forward to now.

I don't really want to go into the story here and I don't want to spoil anything, but this is Brock and Amber's story. Both Brock and Amber would do whatever it takes to put their family first, even if that means sacrificing themselves. But when circumstances change everything for them, they find themselves unsure of what to do and questioning everything.

Taken is a bit darker than the first two books, yet it definitely fit in well in the series. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, anxious to find out how things would play out and what would happen next. I liked the characters and found myself immediately invested in this story. Each of the characters was deep and well thought out and I loved getting to know them and all that was beneath the surface.

Overall, this was a great story and Rebecca Brooke wrote another captivating story in this world that I can't seem to get enough of. I honestly love every minute spent reading these stories and I never want it to end. The Traded series is what introduced me to Rebecca Brooke, but her writing is what has really made me a fan of hers. I can't wait for more from her and will be waiting to see what she writes next!

ARC Review: House Rules by Rebecca Brooke

I was so excited when I found out that Rebecca Brooke was writing a book about Miller Hawes! Miller is Ashton's brother for those that have read her book Traded. While you do not need to have read Traded to understand this book as it is a standalone story, I highly recommend it as it is connected to this book and one that I absolutely loved! This world and family is one that I have come to love, and Rebecca Brooke delivered another fantastic story in House Rules!

Miller Hawes didn't believe in love, and preferred to keep his encounters casual and quick, never letting the women he slept with actually sleep in his bed. They used him as much as he used them, and that suited him fine. But when he won a night with Theresa in a poker game, he never expected that his life would change. She was beautiful like all the woman he usually spent time with, but unlike the others she didn't fall at his feet or jump for the chance to be in his bed. Miller is determined to focus on taking over his family's business now that his father has stepped down, but after his night with Tess he finds that he can't get her off of his mind.

I loved Miller and Tess! They were great together and I loved that she made him work for it. Miller was brutally honest with the girls that he normally hooked up with and often times that made him seem like a real jerk. Yet he was so different with Tess, and I loved how protective and alpha he was with her. She was his right from the start, and he definitely made that known. Tess was strong and independent, and I was so glad that she challenged Miller. She was exactly what he needed and it was so fun to watch the tension and chemistry between these two as the story progressed. These two were beyond hot together and I couldn't get enough of them!

Overall, this was a great story and I loved Miller and Tess. It was so good to see Ashton and Elena again as well, but Tess and Miller were just as amazing as they were and I truly enjoyed this book from start to finish. Rebecca Brooke captured my attention right away with House Rules, and I didn't put this book down until I had devoured every last word. I am so excited that she is continuing to tell stories in this world, and I can't wait to get Brock's story next!

ARC Review: Traded by Rebecca Brooke

Wow this book was so good! Traded is my first book from Rebecca Brooke, but I have a feeling it will be the first of many. She drew me right into this story and I could not put it down! I have read some books with a similar premise to this before, but Traded was different and unique. I will warn readers that if you have any triggers relating to abuse, you might want to consider that before starting Traded. But I would highly recommend this book and ultimately this book is full of hope and healing.

Elena married her high school sweetheart Dominic, and she was determined to be the best wife she could be. No matter what she did though, Dominic never found it to be good enough. Elena just tried to work harder though to make up for all that she didn't seem to get right. But when Dominic trades her to a loan shark in trade for a large debt he owes, Elena is terrified of what awaits her for the next three months she is to spend with Ashton. Ashton can't believe how Dominic treats Elena, and he is determined to use the next three months to show her the life she deserves. He knows that there is a strong woman beneath the surface, but is three months enough time to help Elena find it after all the damage that Dominic has caused?

Elena had been beaten down and brainwashed to the point that she believed she wasn't pretty and that everything she did was wrong. She didn't make any choices for herself and she thought that by allowing her husband to dictate everything in her life that she was performing her wifely duties. It was so sad to see someone truly believe those things, and it was even more heartbreaking to realize that there are so many women out there that are just like Elena in real life. But Elena was beautiful and strong, and I absolutely loved seeing her begin to come back from the years of damage that she had endured. Ashton was alpha and demanding, and beyond sexy. But the thing that I loved most about him is what a great guy he was and how gently he treated Elena. He set about showing her what a real man treats women like and how she deserved to live her life. Though he was intimidating as a loan shark and how he did business, he also was more than just that. I loved the chemistry between these two, and enjoyed seeing them fall for one another even more.

Overall, this was a great story and I loved it from start to finish. Elena and Ashton had so much to come back from and though it was heartbreaking at times to see how Elena thought of herself, the moments that she started to show her true personality and stand up for herself were full of hope. She had so much healing to do, and it was great to see her journey back. This book is full of hope and love and healing, and the progress made from start to finish was inspiring. I couldn't put this book down, and I highly recommend it. I look forward to reading more from Rebecca Brooke in the future, and I am so glad that I took a chance on a new to me author here.
