ARC Review: Frisco by Tijan

I love Tijan’s books and its been a bit since I’ve read an MC book, so I was really excited for Frisco! This one definitely didn’t disappoint and once I started, I didn’t want to put it down for anything! MC books just hit different, and this one had everything you could hope for. It was gritty, suspenseful and full of possessive men that would do anything for their club and their women.

Shane  was great! I loved him from the start and the chemistry between him and Kali was so strong. I loved that there was a bit of a second chance here, and it was so interesting to see how their past and present came together. These two not only had a ton of heat between them, but you could see and feel the connection growing as well. It felt so real and like you were right there with them. 

One of the things I love most about Tijan’s books is that while this one can be read as a complete standalone, her worlds are linked. It is so much fun as a reader to be able to get glimpses of familiar faces and/or places and no one does that better than Tijan! Not only that, but her secondary characters are just as easy to become attached to as the main characters and that was definitely the case here. I felt so invested in how everything would turn out, and I think readers will love this one like I did!

ARC Review: Pine River by Tijan

Pine River is a standalone story featuring Ramsay and Scout, high school students that have both been dealt some bad hands when it comes to life. This one deals with some serious topics, so make sure you check trigger warnings before diving into this one. I honestly love Tijan’s books, and with each new story I read from her, I remember all over again why I love them so much.

Tijan is a master at creating unique and relatable worlds, full of a rich cast of characters that seem genuine and one of a kind each and every time. Pine River captivated me from the very first page until the last, and I never wanted to leave! Ramsay and Scout’s chemistry was so clear to see from their very first interaction. But what made this one special was the connection and bond that built over time for them. They didn’t start out on the best terms, but due to Ramsay’s cousins and their shared friends, these two were constantly thrust into each other’s presence and that got to be more than either one of them could fight. 

I loved seeing how things developed and honestly couldn’t get enough of not only Ramsay and Scout, but also the rest of their group. This world is one that I hope we get more of. I’d love to see more of the triplets (Ramsay’s cousins) but also, there is so much possibility with their friends and even the adults! Pine River was a great story and I felt so connected to the characters. This one had me feeling all the emotions and I can’t recommend it enough. Tijan is a must read author, and this book was great!

ARC Review: Hockey With Benefits by Tijan

I absolutely loved Hockey With Benefits! I have always been a fan of sports romance, and Tijan is one of the best when it comes to them! I have to say that Hockey With Benefits is maybe my favorite Tijan book ever! This is the best book that I’ve read this year and I honestly wanted to immediately re-read it after finishing! Hockey With Benefits is a standalone story, but if you are familiar with Tijan’s books, there are some familiar faces here that just made this one even better. 

Mara and Cruz’s no strings attached relationship quickly becomes more complicated than both of them wanted or expected. They had a great thing going and had so much chemistry right from the start. I enjoyed getting to know each of them better and seeing how they dealt with things both in the present and unresolved issues from their past. I felt like they were perfect for one another, and I really liked each of them alone as well as together. 

The other thing I loved about this book was the side characters! Each one added something to this story and I really loved how it all came together. I won’t go into details, but this book was great and I didn’t want to put it down! Real life fell away as I read this one, and I was so consumed with the story that I ended up finishing it in almost one sitting! Such a great story and I highly recommend it. Serious book hangover after finishing Hockey With Benefits, and I might just have to read it again as I’m not ready to leave this world yet.

ARC Review: Crew by Tijan

I am a huge fan of Tijan’s and I couldn’t wait for Crew. This was everything I had hoped for and more! Once I started, I couldn’t put this book down! I honestly love Tijan’s ability to give us a unique and different story every time, they are angst and emotional and completely original. Crew was definitely one I’ll be reading again, and I already can’t wait for the next in this series!

Bren is the only female member of the Wolf Crew. They are the most fierce of all the crews, and if you mess with them, they will make you pay. They have only one rule, don’t fall in love...and definitely don’t fall in love with anyone in the crew.

I loved Bren. She was so strong and fierce, and yet true to Tijan she was also vulnerable. There were so many layers to her, and I found her very interesting. She was just as protective as her crew was, and I felt like they completely fit each other. She fit in perfectly and yet there were there was so much to her individually that I felt for her. Cross was amazing! He was strong and smart, and sexy. Absolutely perfect for Bren! I couldn’t get enough of him! While I loved Z and Jordan as well, Cross was hands down my favorite part of this entire book!

I just can't wait for more in this series after finishing this book! Crew was a book that I never wanted to end, and I was captivated right from the start. The first half I was interested and enjoying it, but things really picked up in the second half and by the time I finished I was in no way ready to leave this world behind! Tijan is brilliant, and I have enjoyed everything I’ve read from her, but Crew just might be my favorite! I highly recommend this one and am looking forward to getting more of these characters!

ARC Review: Cole by Tijan

I haven't read much from Tijan yet, but I absolutely loved the Carter Reed books. So when I saw that she was writing Cole, another Mafia story, I couldn't wait to read this one! Cole is a standalone story, though it was great to see some familiar faces. I really enjoyed reading it from start to finish, and I didn't want to put this one down!

Addison is a bit broken and lost, but the first time she lays eyes on Cole, she feels something inside her shift. Though she didn't know who he was, she knew that he was different. But after she meets him in her new apartment building, things begin to change for her as she starts to spend time with him. Though at first he won't tell her much about him, she soon learns that he is so much more than just the sexy guy that she can't stop thinking about and nothing is like what she thought.

I really loved these two. Things were very quick with them, and their connection was instant. Honestly though, it felt very genuine to me. These two just had a spark that felt right between them, and it really felt like they were meant to know one another. I was so glad that Cole was able to help bring Addison back to life after all she had been through. She needed someone to show her how to really live again, and Cole was perfect for the job. Cole needed someone to love him and support him, and Addison was as perfect for him as he was for her. These two had great chemistry and I couldn't get enough of them. 

The one thing I will say about this book is that I really enjoyed the side characters with the exception of one, and she was what kept this book from being a five star read for me. As much as I tried to like her and see the best in her, Addison's best friend Sia was one I just couldn't warm up to. I loved the rest of the characters, including the guy that Sia was with. But honestly she was a terrible friend, and apologizing over and over didn't make it okay. She was there at moments that Addison needed her, but she also continued to neglect Addison and blow her off when they had plans, and I just couldn't get past that and started to cringe anytime she was in a scene. Other than Sia though, I really loved this book and highly recommend it. Tijan has yet to disappoint me and I can't wait to read more from her!

Review: Carter Reed by Tijan

I knew just looking at the cover that I had to read this book. I know books shouldn't be judged by their covers, but sometimes I just can't help myself. After reading the blurb though, I was sure that this one was going to be different. I loved how unique and edgy this story was. It was definitely unlike anything else I have read before, and that was extremely refreshing. Recently I have read so many books with similar storylines that I was looking for something else and this was exactly what I was looking for. This book will not be for everyone. There are some pretty serious things that happen, and you should definitely think about if this book is one you would be interested in. I really liked this book, but there were a few things that kept me from giving this one five stars.

Emma walks in on her roommate and best friend Mallory being raped. Emma kills the rapist, who also happens to not only be Mallory's boyfriend, but also a member of a local mob. Knowing that she needs help getting out of the awful situation she finds herself in, Emma goes to the only person that can possibly help her. Her brother told her before he died that if she ever needed anything, Carter Reed would help her. Carter was her brother's best friend and practically lived at their house. But Emma hasn't seen him in ten years, and Carter is not the same person he was back then. As Carter and Emma reconnect and try to get through everything, their feelings grow stronger than ever. Carter makes it his mission to not only escape his mob connections, but also keep Emma safe as he has been doing forever. But can they possibly have a future together, or are there too many obstacles standing in their way?

I loved Carter! He is sexy and dangerous, and I loved how protective he was of Emma. He is a total Alpha, and you just can't help but love him. There is so much to him beneath the surface and I loved how he had no problems admitting to how strongly he felt for Emma. Sometimes I liked Emma and sometimes I didn't like Emma. I thought that overall her character was weak and wishy-washy. She had moments of strength, but they tended to fade very quickly and she was replaced by this completely different character. I really loved her and Carter together though. They were hot and steamy and yet sweet together. They had a ton of chemistry and you could really feel their connection to each other. Their scenes were written so well and were filled with sexual tension. I was hoping for a bit more of the steamy stuff though, and I really felt that the story could have used a bit more sex between them.

I thought that there were some pacing problems with this one. There was a ton of action and things going on, and yet there were times that the story just seemed to move extremely slowly. I would find myself wanting to skim portions and get to the good stuff. I also felt like the ending was extremely abrupt. Yes we do get an end, and there is an HEA. But regardless, it felt unfinished to me. As far as I know, this story is a standalone. I was just wanting an epilogue or something to sort of give this story more closure. I can only hope that Tijan decides to give us and the characters some more to really feel like Carter and Emma get the ending they deserve. Overall though I really did enjoy this story. I was glad that I picked this one up and I am definitely curious to see more from Tijan. This is the first book by Tijan that I have read, but I will be looking for more in the future. I think that there are some people that will not be able to enjoy this story. But I also think that this one is definitely worth giving a shot. It is interesting and unique and will keep you interested in turning the pages and seeing what happens next. Plus, this book is worth reading just for Carter alone!
