Dreams and Fantasies

Ahhh, dreams. Or even better, fantasies. No, I think I like dreams better. Or, wait, fantasies are more fun.

Okay, I’m torn – I think both are pretty awesome.

We’ve all got dreams, right? It could be a wonderful relationship or a fabulous career. Financial security or a luxe vacation. Kids, grandkids, no kids. They are all dreams, right? And then there are the fantasies. That sexy encounter on the beach fantasy. The sleep all weekend with no interruptions fantasy. Oh, or the winning the lotto and not worrying about money fantasy!

Whatever they might be, we all have them, don’t we?

In FEARLESS, my newest release, Gia, my heroine actually has very simple dreams. She has fabulous friends, a great apartment and a good life and wants to nurture those. She dreams of a promotion at work, though And she’s a little unhappy with how average she thinks she is. Her mother regularly fills her in on her sisters’ fabulousness, and all of Gia’s friends stand out in different ways. She feels like she sort of fades into the background. Which makes her fantasy of doing the hottest, sexiest guy in her company totally unrealistic. But when her friends step in (did I mention that they are pretty intense?) they come up with a way to make her fantasy come true. Sure, it involves a makeover, pretending to be someone else and a trip to Las Vegas. But the reward is the hottest, wildest fantasy weekend she could dream of. So what’s a girl to do but grab on with both hands!

But when the fantasy proves to be too much, Gia runs back to real life, where she discovers that part of her dream is coming true – she’s just got a fabulous promotion. The only hitch? Her fantasy guy is her new boss. So... how does she reconcile her day-to-day dream and her hot sexy fantasy? Ahh, that’s what you have to read the story to find out :-D

So this made me think. I do have quite a few dreams. And I’ve got a few fantasies. For instance, nurturing my marriage and growing old next to the man I love is a wonderful dream that I work on every day (well, to tell you the truth, I’m trying to avoid the growing older part, but so far no luck). But my Johnny Depp fantasy is pretty awesome. I probably can’t combine the two. At least, I haven’t figured out how, yet :-D

How about you? Is there some special dream you’re working towards? How’s that going? Do your dreams and your fantasies ever conflict with each other? If you care to share, I’ll pick one name from the comments to win a FEARLESS goody pack!

Promising career: check
Amazing apartment: check
The best of friends: check
Sex life: MIA

There’s just one thing missing from Gia Renyard’s life: sexual adventure. And the one man she’d like to have it with is her hot co-worker, Luke Monroe. If only company rules didn’t prohibit her from asking him out. So Gia comes up with a plan: make herself over into a fantasy seductress, follow Luke to a convention in Sin City, and have her way with him for one erotic weekend. The man will never even know who did him.

Everything is going according to plan—until Gia discovers that Luke is perfect for her outside the bedroom too. And suddenly she’s no longer content to let what happens in Vegas stay in Vegas…

  1. I guess I will always fantasize about being an actress. I don't think at my age it will happen, but that's why it's a fantasy.
    Thanks for the giveaway.

    1. HI Janice :-)

I used to work at a talent agency (front desk *g* no talent here) and some of the most successful actresses we had were over 30 :-)

I hope your fantasy comes true... or that you have a lot of fun working on it anyway LOL

  3. The only dream I have now is to not hurt, I have had 2 back surgeries that have left me in severe pain and numb in certain areas. I love to read and really get into the characters, it helps to dream/fantasize about what it would be like to be one of them. Thank you for the giveaway!

  4. My dream is to become published. I could make all the excuses in the world as to why that has not happened yet, but that would be unfair. I am the maker and/or the breaker of my own successes and failures. I need to stop complaining and get off my patootie and keep on working on my goal. As for fantasies, getting into books and into my favorite characters. 8D

  5. Fantasizing about being a NYT's bestseller and having a movie made of my books are the big ones right now. But I'm seeing sleeping all weekend and winning the lotto moving up my list.

    1. Ooooh, Patricia, I've spent time with a similar fantasy :-D Well, the NYT part. I love the idea of your books being made into a movie-that'd be so cool!

LOL I sooo love the sleeping all weekend fantasy, though!! Thats the same fantasy I have every time I turn a book in.

  7. I had one dream and I made it come true a few years ago. I wanted to become a published author/writer but I don't have the patience to write a 200 page book. So I took to writing articles about small animal care and found a place that would publish them and even pay me for them. So I made my dream come true.

Fantasies are another matter all together. I'll leave the fantasies in the books and just keep reading them there. lol

Singing and piano sound like they would be fun to do, even as an adult. Have you thought about taking them up again?

  12. The only dream I have now is to learn to live by myself. My beloved husband of 39 years died from lymphoma cancer on August 1st, and I have been trying to adjust, but it is very difficult since we were so close. I have joined a wiidows group, and hopefully they can help me work my way through the terrible pain and loss I feel. I'm also thinking of joining a widows/widowers group. Please pray for me.
