ARC Review: Mr. Frost: Goes to Washington by Aimee James

Mr. Frost Goes to Washington is the first novelette in the William Frost Series by Aimee James. These novelettes are very short, only about twenty or thirty pages each. They start with Will just having graduated from Brown. He intends to take the summer off before starting philanthropic work. He is happily with his best friend and lover Katherine O'Doherty, and is convinced that she is the one. He proposes to her, but she isn't ready for marriage or the one. She leaves him broken hearted. The story then picks up five years later, and while Will has continued his philanthropic ways he has also been engaging in his other passion, women. We get to see what adventures Will has in Washington before heading to San Diego.

The main problem that I usually have with novellas/novelettes, is that they are so brief that we really don't get to know the characters well. This story being even shorter, I feel like we barely got to see much of Will, and Katherine wasn't seen beyond the very start when she turned him down when they were younger. Will seems to be a good guy that has intentions of making the world a better place. He is young and suffered not only the loss of Katherine and their future, but he then lost his parents just five years later. I liked that he is determined to keep doing good though, and seems to be committed to his causes. He seems to be fun and easy to get along with, and remarkably normal considering his wealth and prominence. I am intrigued by Katherine and Will's future though, and it will be interesting to see what happens for them both. With Will heading to San Diego next, they are bound to cross paths again.

Overall, this was a good start to this series and it left me wanting more. I am curious to see what Will's next adventure will be and to see what awaits him in San Diego. This novelette was hot and there were a few steamy scenes. I thought that Aimee James did a really great job writing them and they were the highlights of this book for me. Being so short though, those were the majority of this story so far. I am hoping that we will get a bit more of the characters in the next two installments, as I really feel like we don't know them that well yet. If you are looking for a short and sexy read, I would recommend giving this one a shot.
