ARC Review: Say it Louder by Heidi Joy Tretheway

I have been a huge fan of Heidi Joy Tretheway's ever since I read Tattoo Thief! I quickly devoured everything of hers that I could get my hands on, so it seems like I have been waiting forever for this installment in the Tattoo Thief series. This book was worth the wait though, and it was great to head back to this amazing world that she has created. 

When given the ultimatum to dump his toxic girlfriend or lose the band, Dave knows what he needs to do yet finds himself in an impossible situation. Not only does Kristina have dirt on Dave, but on each member of Tattoo Thief as well. Just as Dave's life seems to be up in the air, he finds himself growing closer to emerging star Willa. As Dave and Willa grow closer, both find themselves wondering what their future looks like as their pasts threaten their everything.

I have not been the biggest fan of Dave over the course of this series. He always felt like he was a bit too much of a doormat for his awful girlfriend, and I hate how he treated the guys because of that at times. But there was clearly a lot more going on behind the scenes and we got to see more here that really she a lot of light on why he did certain things. I really liked him with Willa, and it was so nice to see a different side to him than we had seen before. Willa was easy to like and I loved the depth to her character. The chemistry between these two was great and I loved getting to see these two build something together. 

Overall, another great book from Heidi! It was great to see some familiar faces and get to know some of these characters better. I have really enjoyed this series from the beginning, just as I have everything that I have read from Heidi. If you are a fan of rockstar romance stories and like something different, I highly recommend this series! These aren't your typical rockstar romance books, and I love that they are sexy, fun, and emotional. Heidi is great at delivering a solid story every time that captivates the reader from the first word to the last. I can't wait to see what she writes next, and I am already anxious for more from her.

ARC Review: The Phoenix Campaign by Heidi Joy Tretheway

OMG I am loving this series! Heidi Joy Tretheway has done it again with The Phoenix Campaign, and I am already dying for the next book. These books have to be read in order, so make sure that you start with The Phoenix Candidate before reading Campaign. I really loved this book, though I will admit that I was also really frustrated throughout it as well. But I absolutely devoured it, and I cannot wait for more Grace and Jared. 

Grace Colton has been named the running mate for Senator Shep Conover, and her life is more complicated than ever. As they begin their campaign, Grace prepares for what it means to be the VP candidate. Her relationship with political consultant Jared Rankin is also complicated, and they find themselves on shakier ground than ever before despite their feelings from one another. As Jared and Grace try to keep their relationship secret from the public, Grace finds out that she has a secret of her own that she can't tell even Jared. Grace knows that she needs to tell Jared the truth, but she also feels like she needs to tell Shep first. Soon there are so many secrets being kept on all sides, that it is only a matter of time before they start to come out. What happens when the truth is revealed?

Grace and Jared are so hot together. These two have so much passion and chemistry. But what I love about them most is that their connection is stronger than just the physical. They understand one another. They push each other to be better. They also support one another, even when they are fighting and arguing. These two tend to run hot, but you can tell that it is because they are passionate about not only each other, but also their careers and beliefs. As much as I love these two and seeing them together, they both really frustrate me at times. Grace has a tendency to talk back and push when she shouldn't, and Jared has a tendency to run when he should stop and listen. Both of them had their issues, but they genuinely care for one another and you could tell that neither one of them really knows how to handle what they are building together. They are in unfamiliar territory and unfortunately for them they have so many more concerns than the average couple first starting a relationship. 

I will say that that I couldn't put this book down, even with how they would make me angry at times. I had to keep reading to see what would happen next, and I read this in pretty much one sitting. Jared and Grace's relationship is just one of those that draws you in and you can't help but all in love with them. I really love how this series is about their relationship and the love that they are finding, but that it is so much more than that. There were so many things happening in this book as far as the campaign and what lies ahead for each of these characters, and I am really excited to see how things play out after all the truths that came out. I cannot wait for the next book, and I just hope that Heidi Joy Tretheway doesn't make us wait long for it! If you haven't read anything by her yet, you definitely should give her a shot. I have really enjoyed everything that I have read by her, but I think this series is my absolute favorite by her and to me these books are must reads!

ARC Review: The Phoenix Candidate by Heidi Joy Tretheway

I became a huge fan of Heidi Joy Tretheway's after reading her Tattoo Thief series. I really enjoyed those books, so I couldn't wait to read The Phoenix Candidate when I heard about it. As much as I loved the TT Series though, I loved the Phoenix Candidate more! This book was fantastic, and I couldn't put it down. Jared and Grace's story was captivating and smoking hot, and I didn't want to do anything else but keep reading. I cannot wait for more of these two, and I highly recommend checking this books out if you haven't already.

After losing her husband and child to a horrible tragedy, Grace Colton is determined to help others to never have to go through what she did. She becomes a US Congresswoman and dedicates her life to serving others. But one night she meets a handsome stranger in a bar and they agree to spend one night together with no last names or stories. She wakes to an empty hotel room and a phone call that changes her life. Underdog for the 2016 presidential election, Senator Shep Conover had decided that he wants to consider adding Grace to his ticket as his VP. When Grace goes to meet Shep, she discovers that his political consultant is none other than her sexy one night stand Jared. As Jared Rankin begins the process of turning Grace into the next VP of the US, he starts telling Grace everything that she must do or change in order to have her best shot. But Grace isn't willing to be anyone's puppet, and soon she must decide who she can trust when it seems that everyone around her has an ulterior motive.

I loved Jared. He was so complicated, and yet he was the one that was constantly simplifying things for Grace. He got her out of her head when she needed it, and he made sure that she took her "One F'ing Minute" to stop thinking and just calm down. I thought that he was sweet and caring, but hard when he needed to be. He didn't sugar coat things, and I really enjoyed the fact that he was always on Grace's side even when he had to give her some tough love. He wasn't afraid to tell her things that others wouldn't, and I thought that he was exactly what she needed. Grace was so strong. She had been through so much and had vowed to do something positive with her life afterwards. On the surface it appeared that she was doing really well, but Jared quickly pointed out that she wasn't really living and he was so right about that. He got Grace to actually start to live again, and I was glad that she was able to let go of her past and the guilt she felt for being happy and wanting things again. I have to say that Grace and Jared were so hot together, and the chemistry was downright explosive between these two from the beginning. Grace and Jared were both so incredibly passionate, and I was glad that they were able to explore their desires together. Jared fulfilled so many of Grace's needs that had never been touched before, and they connected on every single level. But beyond the physical, these two understood one another and I really liked seeing how their emotional connection developed as well. As much as Jared had his life together, he also had a vulnerable side that only Grace was able to reach.

Overall, this book was amazing. It had the perfect balance of romance, sex and politics. This book was interesting in and out of the bedroom and I couldn't wait to read what would happen next. I loved the chemistry and connection between Grace and Jared, but I think that what really made this book so special was what a strong female lead Grace was. I loved her instantly and her strength and integrity were amazing to read about. I will say that while I loved this book and was very satisfied with how it ended, I absolutely cannot wait for more! I am so excited that we are getting more of the story with The Phoenix Campaign, and I can't wait to see how things play out with how things ended here. I will say that with the excerpt from the new book that I read at the end of The Phoenix Candidate, I wasn't surprised by where things are going next. I pretty much saw it coming throughout this story, but I can't wait to read it anyways. Things are about to get even more interesting for Grace and Jared as they continue their relationship and the campaign and I am dying for more of these two! I highly recommend this book, and if you haven't read anything by Heidi Joy Tretheway you are definitely missing out!

ARC Review: Revenge Bound by Heidi Joy Tretheway

Revenge Bound is the third book in the Tattoo Thief series by Heidi Joy Tretheway. These books can be read as standalones as they are about interconnected characters from the band, but I would really recommend starting at the beginning. While it isn't necessary, I really think that it helps you to understand where each character is coming from so much better and really get to know what has happened with the band from the beginning. I really like this series and the characters, and I think that they are great books!

Violet has just been made the victim of revenge porn by her ex boyfriend Brady. He posted naked pictures of her along with her home address, phone number and her work information. She ends up getting fired from being a teacher due to it and is left with only her budding freelance photography career. Her friend Stella helps her by getting her the job of photographing the band Tattoo Thief to go along with Stella's article on them. When she meets Jayce from Tattoo Thief, she is instantly drawn to him and can tell that he feels the same. But not only does she now have trust issues, but she knows that the last thing she needs is to get involved with someone so famous and always in the spotlight. But when Jayce figures out what is going on with Violet, he becomes protective of her and refuses to let her deal with everything alone. But can Jayce earn Violet's trust and prove to her that he doesn't want to take over her life but have her hand over control on her own?

I have to admit that I didn't really feel one way or another about Jayce before starting this book. Although I had seen him in previous books, he didn't really make a big impression on me. I did really like him in this story though, and I was really shocked to find out how different he was than he first seemed. He was so down to earth despite his reputation, and I loved his interest in his home and cooking. He was so great with Violet as well, and I loved how patient and kind he was with her. He was really sweet and I loved that! I also liked Violet. I thought that she was strong and was a survivor. I liked that she made Jayce work for it and had him prove to her that she could trust him. I also thought it was great that she didn't take advantage of him like a lot of people would have, but that she did let him help her. I thought that they were really great together, and I thought that they had a lot of chemistry.

I will say that while this book was good and enjoyable, this one didn't have quite the same feeling for me as the others did. I really loved the other two books, and this one wasn't as good in my opinion. I did like the characters and it was great to see the others from the previous books. I felt like besides Tyler and Stella though that Jayce sort of made Gavin out to be completely different than the guy that we had got to know in Tattoo Thief. He seemed to almost dislike him for his actions and didn't seem to be all that interested in working through any issues that they had. With the events of this book, they really seemed to be fractured as a group and it just didn't have the cohesive feel that I was looking for. I also have to say that I hate Dave's girlfriend Kristina and have from the beginning. I was really not looking forward to getting his story next, but I thought that Heidi did a great job of setting up for the next book. While I wasn't initially at all interested in Dave's story, we really got to see a different side to him at the end of Revenge Bound and I am really looking forward to what happens next. I definitely recommend this series, and I really like Heidi's writing style. I know I will be looking for more from Heidi Joy Tretheway in the future.

Review: Tattoo Thief by Heidi Joy Tretheway

Tattoo Thief by Heidi Joy Tretheway was so much different than what I was expecting. It was so much more than just another rockstar story. I really enjoyed reading this, and I finished it in one sitting. It was a quick and easy read that kept me interested through every last word. Beryl and Gavin were really easy to like and become invested in. I am looking forward to reading more in this series and from Heidi Joy Tretheway.

When Beryl gets the chance to leave her small Oregon hometown, she jumps on the first plane to NYC. She is working for her father's best friend Dan, who sets her up as a house-sitter and assistant to the rich and famous. Her first job proves to be difficult as she enters the house of Gavin Slater, lead singer for the rock band Tattoo Thief. The place is absolutely trashed and whats more is that she finds out he has not only left a mess, but he also left a dog behind at a boarder. She decides to give him a piece of her mind, and the two begin corresponding back and forth. After suffering a terrible loss, Gavin has run to the other side of the world filling his time with traveling to out of the way places. But as he and Beryl talk more and begin to open up to each other, Gavin realizes that he needs to stop running and face everything he left behind. Can Beryl find her way in a world much different than what she is used to and figure out a way to bring Gavin home?

I liked Gavin. He was so much different than the first impression that you get of him. He was sweet and thoughtful, and I liked that he really payed attention to everything that Beryl told him. He wasn't just about grand gestures, but did little things too. He was so upset and vulnerable because of his guilt over the loss of Lulu, and yet he opened up to Beryl without too much of a fight. I thought that they had a strong connection right from the start, but it was really natural. It didn't feel forced or fake at all. It just worked. Beryl was smart and ambitious, and also really sweet. I liked that she was willing to leave everything she knew on a chance at a better future. She didn't let anything hold her back, and I liked how honest she was, even to the point of saying things that could have got her in trouble. I loved that she was able to see others as the best they could be and was always determined to help them see the same as well. She was just a great heroine, and I really liked reading her story. Gavin and Beryl had a lot of chemistry, but they shared so much more than that.

Overall, I thought that this book was really good. I didn't give it five stars, because even though we do get some interaction between them at the end it really felt like the majority of this book was about Beryl. Because they start of apart and are just emailing and chatting through the internet, it really sort of feels like this story is Beryl's for the most part and that their relationship sort of takes a back seat. I wish that Gavin would have showed up a bit sooner and that we would have got more of their time together. But I really did enjoy this story and that was really my only complaint. I liked getting to briefly meet the other guys in the band and look forward to getting to know them better. I am a bit apprehensive about Stella being the next heroine. I hated her actions at the end of the book, but if i'm being honest I didn't like her from the start. She was extremely selfish and wasn't a good friend at all. I really hope that she redeems herself though, as I think I am really going to like Tyler and I hope she is worthy of him. I really loved that this book was about a rockstar, but was completely different from any other story I have read before. I think that if you are looking for a story about a sexy rockstar that has more depth and emotion, that this is one that you should definitely give a shot. I am so glad that I read this one and can't wait to read more in this series.

ARC Review: Tyler & Stella by Heidi Joy Tretheway

Tyler & Stella is the second book in Heidi Joy Tretheway's Tattoo Thief series. I will admit that going into this story I was a bit worried that I wouldn't be able to get behind the heroine after meeting her in the first book. I am so glad that I gave this one a shot though as she completely changed my opinion of her. This book can be read as a stand alone, but the characters are linked. I highly recommend that you start with Tattoo Thief in order to get to know the characters better though and see how the events from that book really set into motion the plot for Tyler & Stella. It isn't necessary though, but I think it definitely adds to the experience of this book. I am really enjoying this series, and I already can't wait for the next book.

After betraying her best friend, Stella is determined to earn Beryl's trust back. When Tyler offers to let her see their practice space for help with a story on the band Tattoo Thief, she jumps at the chance to redeem herself. She plans to write a story only telling the information that they provide for her. As Stella is around Tyler, the attraction and chemistry between them is undeniable and has Stella making a move. Tyler shuts her down quickly though, and Stella is left reeling. Stella trys to keep her distance, but they keep running into each other and every time Tyler ends up rescuing her. Stella has her reasons for keeping men at arm's length, and Tyler is determined to have all or nothing when it comes to her. The closer they get, the more the begin to feel for each other. But when a story comes out of nowhere that threatens everything growing between them, will they be able to find a way to get through it together?

I liked Tyler. He was sweet and a bit shy, and completely unlike any rockstar I have ever read about. I loved that he was so much more than you get at first glance. He was funny and a great friend, always looking out for others before himself. I liked that he was so down to earth and was so determined when it came to Stella. He really helped her to be a better person, and he never came off as judgmental or arrogant. He genuinely just wanted to help her and see if they had a chance to take their feelings and attraction and have something real. Stella had a lot of ground to make up after the end of Tattoo Thief. I honestly wasn't sure how she could possibly do it and really make it believable. But Stella seemed to truly be sorry for what she had done and I loved that she immediately opened up to Beryl and gave her her own deepest darkest secret to show that she trusted her. Stella was a bit broken after everything that she had been through, and it explained a lot of her actions. She had been through so much and hadn't had anyone to really lean on. It's not an excuse for her character, but it really showed just how lonely and down she had become. I really thought that Stella and Tyler were great together. They seemed to be a great balance for each other, and were pretty much the perfect example of opposites attract. They had really great chemistry together and were hot, but I really loved their sweetness the most.

Overall, I really enjoyed Tyler & Stella and thought that they were a great couple. I loved how they stood by each other and supported one another. I wish that Tyler and Stella had chosen to reveal their secrets to each other rather than having them found out because of others. That was my one complaint with this story. I just felt like it would have meant so much more between them if they had chosen to give the other that information without it only coming to light because it was thrust on them. But it was great to see how Stella really evolved from the character we first met with the help of Tyler and the rest of the Tattoo Thief family. I love how close this group is and how they really go all out for each other. Their camaraderie is really special, and I think that they have some of the best chemistry as a group that I have ever read about. They are all so different and that is what makes them so strong. I also really liked getting to meet Violet. I liked seeing her and Stella become friends, and I can't wait to get to know her better. I think that this series is one that is definitely worth reading, and I love how unique these stories are. They are not your typical rockstar romances and I think that is what makes them so enjoyable. I think that these characters are extremely easy to relate to despite the fact that they are rockstars and I highly recommend checking this series out if you haven't read it yet.
