ARC Review: Denial by Lisa Renee Jones

Denial is the first book in the Careless Whispers series from Lisa Renee Jones. Fans of the Inside Out series will recognize the main character here as this is Ella's story and is a spin-off from the IO series. While it isn't necessary to read the IO series to enjoy this series, it does give you a bit of backstory when it comes to Ella and the situation she is in here. I have to say that while I absolutely loved the way the IO series started, with each new book I kept feelings as though things were being unnecessarily drug out in order to lengthen the series. Unfortunately I felt the same way here and I wasn't very happy about it. While I did find Ella and her situation interesting, I had some problems with this book and where the story is headed.

When Ella Ferguson wakes up in a hospital in Italy, she has no idea who she is or where she is. The man she finds with her, Kayden, is gorgeous and wealthy but Ella has no idea if she can trust him. Kayden has taken it upon himself to protect Ella and encourages her to try and recover her memory. She learns her name is Ella and before long bits and pieces begin to come back to her. But even though she is beginning to remember small pieces of information, neither her nor Kayden know who or what she is running from, but only that Ella is in danger. Kayden is determined to help Ella find answers while protecting her, but not everything is as it seems and the truth could destroy everything.

I have been waiting to find out what happened to Ella since the beginning of the IO series when she disappeared without a trace. While everything was going on with Chris, Mark, and Sara, Sara never gave up on trying to find out what was happening with Ella. But we really didn't get to know much about Ella until we get to see more of her here. The connection between Ella and Kayden was obvious, and the chemistry was there right from the start for these two. Kayden is very much alpha, which shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone familiar with LRJ's work. He is sexy and wealthy and determined to keep Ella safe while looking for answers. He has a ton of layers that we are just beginning to see, and a past that has made him the dominant man he is. Ella might not remember who she is, but we got to see what a smart woman she is. She is a fighter that was determined to get answers, and I did like her a lot.

The problem for me here was that this book was slow at times, and I felt like not much actually happened. Though Ella's situation is interesting, when there isn't much going on my interest starts to wane. In true LRJ fashion, we get more questions than answers, and while that is good to keep the reader on the edge of their seat anticipating what will happen next, it is also very frustrating at times and hard to justify when there isn't a lot actually taking place. If the story warrants several books that is one thing, but I feel like there could have been so much more done with this book and I am afraid to get too invested in another series that could be stretched out over the course of several more books and months or years to come. While I am curious to get more answers and see where things go after the cliffhanger at the end of Denial, I am not sure that I can commit to this series if it will go the way the IO series did. If you are a fan of Lisa Renee Jones and her Inside Out series, this is one that you will want to check out. But if you are looking for a complete story without cliffhangers and more questions than answers, you will probably want to steer clear.

Audiobook Review: No In Between by Lisa Renee Jones, Narrated by Grace Grant and Jason Carpenter

I have a couple of confessions to make. First, I saw this book on Goodreads and it had such great reviews I jumped at the chance to hear it on audio. I had no idea what I was getting into. Also, I didn’t realize that the series started with three previous books, which I have not heard or read. Another confession, I could not stop listening!

When the story begins, Sarah and Mark are on a plane returning from Paris. They are obviously in love and are coming back from some dramatic event. Obviously, it makes more sense to read all the books in a series first but I think in a way it kept me more intrigued. I kept thinking, what happened? Who are they talking about? For anyone that doesn’t know the back story, Sarah finds a diary that belongs to Rebecca. In this diary she describes an erotic, pleasure clubs and dominant/submissive lifestyle. Sarah becomes intrigued with Rebecca and wants to find out what happened to her. In the process she starts to live Rebecca’s life and starts to work in an art gallery, owned by Mark and she also meets Chris-a famous artist. This apparently happened in the previous books.

A couple of things are clear. First, the mystery surrounding Rebecca’s death continues. There were not too many answers found in this book. Although there is a montage of characters from the previous book, it also becomes clear that in the mist of the storyline, this book is really just a bridge for the other books.

While I was listening to Chris and Sarah’s relationship I keep thinking it was just another 50 Shades of Grey type book. Although in some aspects it is, in other aspects it really stood out. Sarah and Chris are still working on their relationship. They are fully committed to each other but still have insecurities. I found this a little surprising since this is the fourth book in the series. Also, another aspect that stood out is that Chris’ past seems to still affect his relationship with Sarah and even though she wants to accept and love him, she still has some doubts. Sarah and Chris participate in the dominant/submissive lifestyle. Chris seems to still struggle with some aspects of his needs with his relationship.

In the mist of Chris and Sarah is Mark. He is the owner of the art gallery and he seemed to have wanted a type of relationship with Sarah. The author introduces another character that seems to be Mark’s love interest in future books. I was intrigued by Mark and I can’t wait to read more about him. Besides all these characters there is still questions surrounding Rebecca. Chris and Sarah are suspects in another girl’s death as well. There is yet another storyline with the police and detectives and also characters from previous books that want to harm Chris, Sarah and possibly even Mark.

Last confession, I was so intrigued and captivated by the characters. Hearing the book was almost addictive. I was constantly wanting to know more, understand more, and find out more. Needless to say this is a series I will be reading. I think that the author must drag out the story lines but the characters that she keeps introducing are interesting. I’m looking forward to reading about Mark and Crystal in the upcoming books!

The narrator was very good. I think at times she portrays Sarah as confident and other times as uncertain and scared, which is an accurate characterization. I will forewarn that this is a series that will grab your attention!

ARC Review: No In Between by Lisa Renee Jones

I really loved this series when it first started. I thought that it was so new and different, and I loved how refreshing that was. As the series has continued though, I have felt as though things have gone downhill. While I still love the characters, I feel as though the story has begun to drag and it feels as though things are purposely being drawn out at times. This book needs to be read after the previous books and is not a standalone. I would highly recommend that if you are going to read this series that you read them in order and close together. I found myself getting confused and forgetting past events because of the time in between each book. I am not sure where this series is headed, but I will say that I am starting to lose interest because of the way that it has been stretched out so much.

After everything that happened in Paris, Chris and Sarah have finally returned home to San Francisco. With the investigation in full swing, everywhere they turn Sarah and Chris are in the middle of lawyer, detectives, and their own security team who are determined to get to the bottom of what happened once and for all. With Ava retracting her confession, the police turn their investigation to Sarah, Chris and Mark and begin to wonder if Ava is protecting someone or is lying. At the heart of the investigation is still the question about what happened to Rebecca and if they will ever find out the truth and where her body might be. Sarah and Chris have begun to bare their souls to one another and are more committed than ever, but with everything going on and the past being brought to the surface things start to unravel. Can Sarah give her trust to Chris after everything or will their relationship crumble under the weight of everything that still stands between them?

I really thought that at this point that Sarah and Chris's relationship would be rock solid, and at times it does seem like it is. But then there are times that it seems as though they will never be able to find stability and a future together. After everything that Chris had revealed to Sarah about his past, it was Sarah that hadn't been entirely truthful with Chris. She still had so much going on with her panic attacks and her past that she had yet to fill him in on. It also seemed as though she was still having trust issues when it came to opening up to him and that bothered me. Chris had been so patient and kind with her and she continued to run rather than immediately go to him. I understand that she was trying to protect him and their relationship because she thought that things would be hard for him to deal with, but as a couple they should have been able to deal with things together. I did enjoy them starting to move forward towards a future together though, and their undeniable chemistry was still clear. These two belong together and I just hope that they are able to make it through everything together and get their HEA at the end of everything.

I will admit that this felt really long to me, and I honestly felt like this book could have done the exact same thing but been novella length. The story was slow at times and hard to stay interested in. I kept waiting for more to happen, but really it was not much progress at the end of it. Sarah and Chris still have much to get through, and I honestly am not sure where they stand at the end of this story. I am not sure what is going on with the connection to the roses and why all of a sudden they are making such an appearance with Chris and his feelings towards Sarah. It seems a bit suspicious considering the connection that roses have to Rebecca, and I have to wonder if there is more going on between Chris and Rebecca in the past than what he has said or we have been lead to believe. I am still not convinced that Rebecca is really dead, which would mean even more if there is still more about Chris and her that we don't know. I will say that I am curious to where things will end with this series, and I am commited to seeing it played out. But honestly I am continuing to get frustrated with this series, and would like to see the end in sight. I don't want this series to be completely killed by the end and it left feeling as though the author is beating a dead horse. I understand giving a story its proper ending, but there is such a thing as overdoing it to keep it going. I will be interested to see how the next book plays out and if we are finally given more answers than questions and confusion.

ARC Review: My Hunger by Lisa Renee Jones

My Hunger is a novella in the Inside Out series by Lisa Renee Jones, and should be read as a part of the series. I would not suggest reading this as a standalone as there are many things going on that have been set in motion from the previous books, and I think that most readers would be lost trying to jump in at this point. I am not really sure how to write this review because I just have so many mixed feelings about not only this novella, but this series as a whole. When I first started this series, it was being called a trilogy but at this point there are several novellas and the set of Rebecca's journals as well as three full sized novels and two more on the way. I just feel like this series has sort of lost its way, and I am not sure what to expect going forward. Part of me thinks that this one is just becoming too drawn out, and I have started to lose interest as questions never seem to be answered and that many more pop up out of nowhere.

My Hunger is the continuation of Mark and Crystal's story which started in Master Undone. Mark is trying to deal with business at the gallery as well as Riptide while his mother undergoes treatment for her cancer. He is struggling to handle everything at one time and has begun to rely heavily on Crystal. Crystal is close with his mother and has taken over running Riptide in her absence and Mark is inexplicably drawn to her. She is everything that he shouldn't want. She doesn't fit his type at all and she is the opposite of submissive. Yet he can't seem to control his desire to have her all the while knowing that he should stay away. He told himself that he would never involve himself with someone who wasn't a part of the BDSM lifestyle again after what happened with Rebecca, yet he finds himself unable to stay away from Crystal and continues to seek her out. While Crystal and Mark are dealing with their attraction to each other and running the businesses, Mark is also dealing with the ongoing investigation into Rebecca's disappearance and the aftermath of Ava's actions.

I honestly don't know what to say about Mark. I have always liked him, even though I have questioned his motives and actions several times. He was never an option for Sara in my opinion because of Chris. Those two just belonged together, and I knew that Mark was never a threat to that. But I have always seen him as belonging with Rebecca. I honestly do not believe that she is dead at this point, and I have no idea what has actually happened to her but that is just what my gut is telling me. Because I don't really believe she is dead and because of Mark's feelings for her and how he continually relates everything back to her, Crystal just doesn't seem to fit into his life for me. I just don't connect with her character or see the fixation he has with her. For me, these two don't really work and it seems to just be lust and a need to scratch an itch. She seems to be offering him a way to escape everything going on in his life, but I just don't really see how they work together. I am also not sure if it's because of everything that has happened or is going on, but it just seems like Mark has sort of lost everything that once drew me to his character. He just doesn't seem to have the same appeal he once did, and I feel like over the past few novellas there has just be a sort of disconnect with him. It could be that I just don't like Crystal and that is affecting everything for me because she is becoming such a large part of his story.

I honestly have no idea where this series is going at this point, and I am just not sure that I am comfortable with the direction things have taken. I really loved the first few installments in this series, but I just feel like the direction things have taken is completely different than what this started out to be. I find myself losing interest in not only the overall story but also the characters. For some reason the last few novellas and books in this series have felt forced to me, and I think it is because things are becoming too drawn out. There doesn't really seem to be a point and each time it appears that things are finally going to be settled, there are several more random things that pop up to try and continue the story. I really hope that these characters that I felt so invested in from the beginning get the ending that they deserve and that the story does them justice. But I just feel like it needs to come to the conclusion soon or that just won't be possible. As much as I love a good series, everything needs an end and I just feel like this one is starting to go beyond where it naturally should have. I think that Lisa Renee Jones is a talented writer and I love her style. But because of the turn of events in this series, I just feel like with each new installment my interest wanes even more.

ARC Review: His Secrets by Lisa Renee Jones

His Secrets by Lisa Renee Jones is a very short novella (approximately 60 pages) in the Inside Out Series. This novella should only be read if you have read the previous books in this series as it centers on the progression of Chris and Sarah's relationship as well as expands on things that have happened in previous books. I have been a fan of this series from the first book on. I really enjoyed the first few books, and I really loved seeing Rebecca's journals as well as getting to know Mark better. But with this novella and the last book, I have to admit I've begun to have mixed feelings about this series. While there are still many things that I like, this series has changed from what made me fall in love with it and the characters to begin with.

Chris and Sarah are in Paris where he is determined to show her the real him. When Chris gets a call from Tristan about Amber going to Isabel's, he knows that he needs to go and try to help. Even though Chris said that he needed to show Sarah his secrets, he tries to get her to stay at his house. Sarah convinces him to take her and she goes with him. Once at the club, Sarah sees just how broken and damaged Amber has become. Chris blames himself for the way she is and is determined to get her the help she needs. Tristan and Chris try to get her to see reason, but Amber is determined to play games. Chris and Tristan set in motion a plan to force Amber to get help, but in the process will Chris lose his chance at a future with Sarah? Once she finally sees everything, will she still feel the same for him?

I felt like most of this brief novella really didn't offer a lot of new to the series. At this point, we already knew that Chris turns to the whip in times of stress and trouble when he feels he needs to be punished. We already knew that he felt guilty about the way things went down with Amber and how she has handled everything in the past. It just felt a bit repetitive and didn't really seem to further the story much. I also felt like the way it was laid out was a bit disjointed, and it just didn't flow as well as her previous stories did. As much as I loved getting Chris's POV, I feel like this one just missed the mark. It was good to catch up with Chris and Sarah, and I was glad that we got a bit of them to tide us over as we wait for the next book. But honestly this one just didn't seem to really add that much to the series as a whole. There was a lot of drama in this one, but because most of it centered around Amber it just didn't really draw my interest. I think fans of this series will enjoy getting more Chris and Sarah and will probably think that this is a good addition to the series. However I think that those that are looking for new material and more depth will find this isn't what they are expecting. I am hoping that with the upcoming novellas featuring Mark as well as the next few books that we will some resolution and answers and more of what was so great about the first books in this series.

ARC Review: Infinite Possibilities by Lisa Renee Jones

Infinite Possibilities is the second book in The Secret Life of Amy Benson series by Lisa Renee Jones. This book is not a standalone and should only be read after Escaping Reality. If you have not read Escaping Reality, you definitely should give it a chance and also beware of spoilers below. As a reader, cliffhangers definitely have become the bane of my existence. I love a good series and I am all for making sure that a story is told completely and the best way it should be. However cliffhangers really drive me nuts. So when I finished Escaping Reality and was left hanging there, I absolutely couldn't wait to get more. Luckily, Infinite Possibilities picks up where Escaping Reality left off, and we aren't left trying to figure out what has happened for very long.

Having overheard a private conversation, Amy is left reeling and doesn't know what to think. The only person that she has trusted in the last six years seems to have been lying to her the whole time. Fearing for her life, Amy decides that she must leave and start over again. But as she sets out to disappear, she knows that if she doesn't fight back now she will be on the run forever. Amy is determined to discover the truth and will do whatever it takes. But Liam isn't about to let Amy go without a fight. Liam must convince Amy to trust him and that he will do anything to protect her. Liam and Amy have an undeniable connection. But with secrets and lies everywhere, can they possibly trust in each other? Amy wants to believe that Liam is trustworthy, but she also knows that regardless of what side he is on that people she cares about tend to end up dead. Even though she is unsure of Liam, she knows that she needs to protect him and will do anything to make sure that he is safe.

I was really hoping that Liam was on the right side. After the end of Escaping Reality I was so worried that this man who Amy and all of us readers had come to love was really working against her the whole time. But I just knew there had to be a mistake and we weren't seeing the whole picture. Liam continues to be protective and loving despite the fact that Amy continually tries to run and push him away. I loved that he kept going after her and refused to let her run away from him. You could tell that even though he didn't come right out and say it, that he really did love and care about her. Liam is the kind of guy that is hot and sexy, but also really deep. He is loyal and caring and there is so much more to him than meets the eye. I like Amy. She continues to be strong and she does what she has to in order to survive. I understand that she is damaged and vulnerable because of her past, but I was hoping that she wouldn't run as much in this one. I really felt like she should have leaned on Liam more and accepted his support. She trusted in her feelings and the connection she felt to Liam and yet she continued to assume that she had to run in order to protect him. I just didn't really feel as though her trust was one hundred percent real when she kept disappearing. I also felt like she was a little immature sometimes and that as much as she said she couldn't trust anyone she would then turn around and make decisions at the drop of a hat with very little proof. Amy and Liam continued to have a ton of chemistry though, and it was nice to see their relationship grow. I felt like they really started to make some progress in their relationship and I loved their scenes together.

This story was action packed and fast paced. It kept going right up until the end and there were so many twists and turns that the reader is never quite sure where we will end up. There were a few things that I had wondered about and had seen coming, but there were also some complete shockers. I love how Lisa Renee Jones is able to weave things into her stories and characters that the reader can't possibly figure out, but that once revealed make complete sense. Her writing style is always excellent, and you can't help but be drawn into the story and become invested in her characters. My only gripe though, is that we never really seem to get the resolution that I hope for. When one question is answered it seems like five more are brought to the surface. Even though this story ends with less of a cliffhanger and Liam and Amy together and safe for the moment, it just felt as though they were sort of left unfinished. Jones leaves this story headed in a clear direction and we get to see who the next portion of this story will feature. But I still feel as though we aren't done with Liam and Amy. I hope that we will get more of them in the next book Forsaken, and that they will get the ending they deserve. My other issue with this story was Meg. She was brought into the story and we are left hanging. She completely disappears and we are left to wonder who she really is and what happened to her. Hopefully that will be addressed as well. I did love Jared though. I had been intrigued by him in Escaping Reality and I was very excited to see him again. I really hope that he is a bigger part of Forsaken and that we get to know him better. Overall, this story was an excellent continuation of what is shaping up to be a great series. I loved the way that things are unfolding and I can't wait to see where Jones will take us next. This book kept me turning the pages and I couldn't put it down. I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves a little mystery and action with their romance. This series will grab a hold of you and not let go until you have devoured every last word.

ARC Review: The Master Undone by Lisa Renee Jones

I have anxiously been awaiting Mark's Story ever since I first read If I Were You. I knew Mark wasn't right for Sara, but there was just something about him that made me want to know more about him. The Master Undone Novella takes place after If I Were You, Rebecca's Lost Journals and Being Me. If you haven't read those, then you should not read The Master Undone until after you have done so as there is a huge reveal at the end of Being Me that would be spoiled if you read The Master Undone first. Also if you haven't read those first, beware of spoilers below. This series has to be one of my all time favorites and this novella was everything I had hoped it would be and more. Lisa Renee Jones has created some of the most interesting and deep characters that I have ever read about. Each one of them seems like one thing on the surface, but as her stories continue and you begin to peel back the layers, you realize that there is so much more to each one of them than you originally see.

After the events at the end of Being Me, Mark is left shaken to his core. He feels responsible for the tragedy that happened with Rebecca and he begins to question everything he thought he knew. He heads to New York to be by his mother's side as she undergoes surgery and cancer treatment. While in NY he becomes acquainted with an employee for Riptide and he can't help but be attracted to her despite the fact that she is everything that would normally turn him off. Crystal is not submissive in any way and is a self proclaimed control freak. Mark knows that he should stay away, but he just can't help himself. After the two spend a passionate night together, she leaves him. Crystal is everything that he never wanted, and yet she just might be everything that he needs.

I loved getting to know Mark better. Even though he is a large part of the series, we really haven't got to know much about Mark in the previous books. This novella really starts to dig deeper into his personality and past. I enjoyed seeing him let his guard down a little. It was nice to see him actually be human instead of just some unreachable master and boss. I also liked that we got to see him with his mother. It was sweet seeing how much he cared about her and his reactions to what was going on with her health despite him trying to hold them back. I also loved Crystal! It was really fun to see such a strong woman come in to his life and not put up with his normal controlling personality. I loved that she would throw it right back in his face, and only relent if she chose to. Her honestly and bluntness was really refreshing and kept Mark on his toes. She is exactly what he needs and I cannot wait to see how their relationship progresses. These two also had a ton of chemistry. Their hook-up in The Master Undone was super hot and I can just tell its only going to get better.

Overall, this was a quick read that left me wanting more. I enjoyed getting to know Mark better and meeting Crystal. This novella really added more depth to the entire series and gave us some insight into Mark's character and the life he has been living in the past. Although it did give us some more information about him and his past, there is so much left that we don't know about him. I am really excited to read more about him and Crystal both. I am really hoping that we will get a few more books on Mark. Lisa Renee Jones has exceeded my expectations again and if you haven't read this series yet, I cannot tell you enough how much you need to! This series is fantastic, and fans of all genres of romance will love these books!

ARC Review: Revealing Us by Lisa Renee Jones

Another winner from Lisa Renee Jones, Revealing Us is the next sexy installment in the Inside Out Series. This story picks up after Being Me and should not be read out of order as the events in Being Me directly affect where Sara and Chris are at the start of this book. That being said, beware of possible spoilers below if you have yet to read this series. And if you have yet to read this series, what are you waiting for? This series is one of a kind and always keeps you on the edge of your seat with no idea what will happen next. These books are well written, sexy and have instantly become favorites of mine!

After Ava's attack on Sara and the revelations about what happened to Rebecca, Chris and Sara head to Paris to begin their life together and get away from everything that has happened in San Francisco. There only a short time, Sara's passport gets stolen and she is plagued with the feeling of being watched. As her and Chris settle into their relationship and commitment to each other, he is finally ready to share his secrets with her. But will his secrets tear them apart as he fears or will they be able to move forward once everything has been laid out on the table. While trying to adapt to the new city and language, Sara uses her time and a new friendship to try and discover what has happened to her friend Ella. As she digs deeper, more questions are found than answers and she begins to really worry about Ella. Sara and Chris continue to get closer as they face everything together for the first time.

Chris is just one of those heroes that it is impossible not to love. His past and the damage that has been done make him someone that you want to comfort. I really liked getting to know more about him and it was wonderful to see him finally open up to Sara. I was beginning to get worried that he wasn't going to actually talk to her, but in the end he trusted her enough to be open even though he feared it would cause her to run away. Chris is always sexy and his protective nature towards Sara makes reading about him enjoyable. Sara was strong and trusting despite all the horrible things she has been through. I really admired her in this book for having the conviction and trust in her relationship and connection to Chris to stick by him even when she could have easily ran. It was nice to see her convincing Chris that their relationship was strong enough that nothing could break them apart. These two are absolutely meant to be and it was really great seeing them both come to that realization and get things right.

I really enjoyed seeing Sara and Chantal develop a friendship. I am hoping we will see more of her in future books. I loved how she was instantly fierce when it came to her friendship with Sara and how she stood up to Amber and Chris. I'm also very intrigued to see what is going on with Ella, and i'm really glad that she was a bigger part of this book. Throughout the previous books, I was always wondering about her and the focus had been more on Rebecca so it was nice to get some more information on her. Overall, these stories from Lisa Renee Jones just keep getting better and better. They are full of suspense, plenty of steamy sex, and every single one of them leaves you wanting more! I am an absolute addict when it comes to the Inside Out Series, and I will be anxiously awaiting my next fix! I can't wait to read more about all these characters that Lisa Renee Jones has brought to life. If you haven't read this series yet, you really should check these books out. Fans of romance and suspense will not be disappointed with this series!

ARC Review: Rebecca's Lost Journals 1-4 by Lisa Renee Jones

At this point I will devour anything by Lisa Renee Jones! Her writing is fabulous, her characters are deep and interesting, and she always leaves you wanting more. After reading If I Were You, I couldn't wait to get more information on Rebecca. I knew that the journals were going to fascinate me as soon as I saw those gorgeous covers and they definitely held up to every single expectation that I had. If you haven't read If I Were You, you should start there before reading the journals and beware of possible spoilers below. However if you are already familiar with the series and haven't read these journals, you should absolutely check them out! I think that Lisa Renee Jones is absolutely brilliant, and you will not be disappointed with these short novellas!

Rebecca's Lost Journals Volume 1: The Seduction

For me this first journal really begins to fill in the gaps as far as Rebecca's character goes. Not only do you begin to see similarities between Sara and Rebecca, but you also see that despite what they have in common, they are very different in their ways of thinking. In The Seduction, Rebecca explains how she begins to work for the gallery and you get some of her back story. I also loved seeing how she and Mark met and the instant attraction between them. This novella sets up the relationship between Rebecca the submissive and her Master. It was really interesting to me how different she seemed to me after reading this first journal. In If I Were You, she is just some anonymous writer from a journal and there really wasn't a big connection between her and the reader. But by reading her thoughts and feelings in these journal entries, you really get to see what made her tick and it gives so much more to the overall experience the reader feels when reading the Inside Out Series. The journal entries were well written and went into detail without ever being dry or boring and they really made me want to go back and start all over with the series! As usual after reading this novella Jones left me wanting more and I can't wait to read the next one!

Rebecca's Lost Journals Volume 2: The Contract

The Contract is the second journal novella and mostly centers around Rebecca receiving a contract from the Master and deciding whether or not to sign it. In The Contract, things are going well for Rebecca at the gallery. She is starting to gain more responsibilities and is enjoying her work. We get to see more of a few well known characters, some as Rebecca is meeting them for the first time. I really loved getting to see how Rebecca sees everyone and her thoughts and feelings in comparison to Sara's. As Rebecca is settling into her job though, thoughts of her Master and the contract take over most of her thoughts and she struggles with the decision she knows she must make. Regardless of her attraction and growing feelings for her Master, there are things in the contract that bother her. Her Master is determined to convince her that they can start off gentle and ease into things, and he begins to show her exactly why she should take the risk and say yes. Rebecca begins to open herself up to her Master and finds herself doing things for him that she had never though of doing for anyone before. This novella begins to show Rebecca's growth and her acceptance of becoming a submissive, and I found it fascinating to read her thoughts and feelings rather than just witness the scenes like you would in a normal story. Lisa Renee Jones continues to show her genius by using these journal entries to dig deep into the story and offer a different way of telling her story through multiple character's POVs.

Rebecca's Lost Journals Volume 3: His Submissive

The Submissive is the third journal novella, and things really got intense in this one. Rebecca is giving herself to her Master and the more time that goes on, the more she begins to rely on him. Before, she was intrigued by him and always very attracted to him. However in His Submissive, she really starts to depend on him and I feel as though she is really starting to lose herself with the continuation of their relationship, just as she has stated multiple times that she fears. I think part of her losing herself also stems from the terrible nightmares that she keeps having. All of her subtle hints about being betrayed in the past and needing control of her life really make me want the whole story of her past. This novella just makes me that much more curious about what happened in her past between her and her mother? His Submissive has really drawn me in even more than I already was and i'm left wanting more as always by Lisa Renee Jones. There are many more physical interactions between Rebecca and her Master in this novella as their relationship progresses, and they are smoking hot! I loved all the lessons that her Master is teaching her, and the last one when he takes her to the club had me fanning myself and reaching for a glass of water! I can't wait to get more of Rebecca's thoughts and feelings in the next journal!

Rebecca's Lost Journals Volume 4: My Master

In My Master, Rebecca begins to realize just how much of herself she has lost and she decides that regardless of her feelings for her Master, she cannot continue in the relationship the way she has been. This one was absolutely heartbreaking to read. You could really feel the sadness and sorrow that had become such a part of Rebecca. Her journal entries showed how dark her relationship with her Master had become and it was clear to see that her Master was doing everything possible to keep distance between the two of them. I really loved seeing Rebecca stand up to her Master though, and begin to take her life back. She found her strength and even knowing the devastation she would feel not being with her Master anymore she took action to start living the life she wanted to live. There were times reading this one that you could see that her Master clearly cares for her and the whole time you are hoping that it won't end in heartache for the two of them. This one was emotional, deep and left me absolutely wanting to read more about all these characters that we have come to know and love. Despite all the struggle, I found myself enjoying the connection that the two of them shared especially when her Master let his guard down a little. I can't wait to read more and see how things end up and where Lisa Renee Jones takes us next.

Overall

Overall, these journal novellas were quick and hot reads! But besides all the steam, these journal entries of Rebecca's gave a whole new depth and understanding to not only the Inside Out Series, but to several of the characters as well. Before reading these, I didn't think that they would be so necessary to the series. But after having read them, I feel as though everyone who reads this series needs to also read these. Lisa Renee Jones keeps proving to me with every story of hers that I read why she is absolutely amazing! She is not only the queen of writing stories filled with romance and suspense, but she creates characters that are impossible not to connect to and fall in love with. I highly recommend that if you haven't read anything from her or the Inside Out Series that you immediately fix that!
