ARC Review: Seducing the Princess by Diane Alberts

Seducing the Princess is the third book in the Shillings Agency series by Jen McLaughlin writing as Diane Alberts. This book is a standalone with interconnected characters, and you do not need to have read the rest of the series to understand this story though fans of the series will recognize some familiar faces. I thought that this book was a quick and easy read that was enjoyable. While there were parts that I enjoyed, this story wasn't anything really new or fresh. It was good, but I just didn't love it.

Gordon Waybrook has just received the assignment to protect a princess for the Shillings Agency, and is not looking forward to dealing with an entitled snob. To make matters worse, she shows up late to their first meeting. But once he starts to get to know princess Isabelle, he quickly realizes that he was all wrong about her. She is feisty and sexier than he would have thought, and they decide to spend a passionate night together. Though Isabelle wants Gordon, she knows that they can't have anything beyond a quick fling with her duty being to her country. She is set to marry a prince that will help her country regardless of the fact that she doesn't want to marry the stranger. But soon Gordon and Isabelle are developing real feelings for one another, and both of them would do anything to keep Isabelle from marrying someone else.

Gordon was a sexy bodyguard and former marine that was also a really great guy. He had a great code of ethics, and was determined to be an honorable guy after what his father put his mother through. Though he wanted Isabelle, once he found out there was a possibility of someone else in her life he did his best to keep his distance and remain professional despite his feelings. I really admired that about him, and it made me think he was that much greater. He was commanding and alpha, and I enjoyed seeing him boss Isabelle around in the bedroom. Isabelle was feisty and I loved that she wasn't a mild and meek Disney type princess. She was committed to doing the right thing for her country, but she also wasn't afraid to be who she was or go after what she wanted. I liked that what Gordon did had no bearing on her feelings for him, and she wasn't stuck up or entitled at all. These two had amazing chemistry right from the start and were super hot together. I thought that their sexy scenes were definitely the highlights of this book.

I will say though that I felt like this book was pretty rushed, and I didn't fully buy into their emotional connection. Yes, they did share things with one another that they typically didn't with others, but I really saw more of the lust between them than actual love. Gordon even admitted that he wasn't sure what love was or that he felt it for Isabelle. I wish that we could have seen more of the depth and developing bond between them, rather that just the physical side and the constant push and pull. I think that her indecision on if she should put herself or her country first hurt the development of her relationship with Gordon, and I would have liked to have seen her figure things out a bit sooner. It wasn't all Isabelle's fault though, as Gordon made plenty of mistakes himself. I also thought that their relationship suffered from so many outsiders interfering, but with Isabelle being a Royal it was realistic. I wish that Isabelle and Gordon had actually talked more though, as I think that better communication would have cleared up a lot of the problems and assumptions between them. While I enjoyed and liked this story, it isn't one that I would read over and over. I thought that the sex between them was hot and steamy, but beyond that the story to me was just okay. If you are looking for a good story with plenty of sexy times, you might give this one a shot. But if you are looking for more depth, this might not be the story for you.

ARC Review: Mistaken by Fate by Katee Robert

Mistaken by Fate by Katee Robert is the third book in the Serve series, with each being standalone. I really liked this story, and I have to say it is probably my favorite that I have ever read of Katee's books. It was sexy and hot, and I loved the history and second chance romance between Ridley and Garrett. This one was a great addition to this series, and I am looking forward to reading more about the characters in the Serve world.

Ridley Ethridge has decided that she finally has the perfect stable guy for her in her childhood friend Will Reaver. She sets out to seduce him as a new sub at the exclusive erotic club Serve. But when the blindfold comes off, Ridley discovers that the man pleasuring her is none other than Will's twin brother Garrett. Ridley once loved Garrett, until he broke her heart eight years ago. Garrett was never able to get over Ridley despite the fact that he was the one who pushed her away years ago, and when he finds out that she intended to seduce his brother he sets out to be the only man that she needs. But Garrett still has the same fears that he used to, and Ridley isn't about to let him run away again leaving nothing behind but a broken heart.

I really liked Garrett and Ridley. They both had some issues and made some mistakes, but you could tell that both of them were never able to move past the connection between them. Not only did they have a good time together, but their needs and desires clicked on a level that they didn't with others. They were super hot together, and I really enjoyed seeing things play out between them. Ridley was submissive and liked being told by Garrett what to do, but she also challenged him and kept things interesting. Garrett was sexy and commanding, but he wasn't a complete jerk. His ultimate goal was Ridley's pleasure as well as his own, and he did a great job of taking care of her. I thought that the chemistry was there from the very start for these two, and I enjoyed seeing their emotional connection strengthen between them as they learned to trust one another.

Overall, I thought that this was a really great read. I enjoyed the characters and the story, and I thought that Katee Robert was able to tell a very satisfying story with these two. I definitely think that this is the best book I have read by her, and I look forward to seeing more of the Serve world. I am especially looking forward to seeing Will's story. I can tell there is so much more to him than meets the eye, and I am excited to see what is beneath the surface. I recommend this story and series for those looking for a sexy and erotic read.

ARC Review: Ice by Chelsea Camaron & Jessie Lane

Ice is the first book in the Regulators Series by Chelsea Camaron and Jessie Lane. While this book can be read as a standalone, fans of Chelsea and Jessie's will recognize some familiar faces from Chelsea's Hellions Ride Series and Jessie's Ex Ops Series. Having enjoyed books from both of these authors, I couldn't wait to dive into this one. I thought that it was a great start to this series, and I am really looking forward to getting to know the rest of the Regulators.

Morgan Powell is a twenty-four year old virgin that spends most of her time trying to advance her career as an investment banker. She was raised by parents that were more into appearances than the well being of their three daughters. When her parents kick one of her younger sisters out of the house, Morgan agrees to let her sister stay with her. When her sister Madyson and her best friend Brooke start getting into trouble though, she comes face to face with Brooke's father and they immediately get off on the wrong foot. Brett "Ice" Grady thinks that Morgan is doing a horrible job with her sister, and Morgan thinks that Ice is a total jerk. But the more they around each other, the more they begin to realize that there is more between them than just arguments. When something horrible happens, they discover that they are better together than apart.

I really liked Ice. At first he seemed to be a complete jerk, especially when it came to Morgan. But I really understood that he was doing the best he could to look out for his daughter. As a single father from a young age, he had been forced to deal with a lot more than he ever should have and it was clear that Brooke was his whole world. I loved that he started to really see that he had made some bad assumptions though as he got to know more about Morgan and her situation. Ice was a complete alpha that wouldn't apologize for who he was, but he was honest and upfront. It was also really great to see a MC male that was capable of being faithful, and I loved his character all the more for it. Morgan was strong and sweet, and I was really glad to see her determined to look out for her sisters. She was doing everything that she could to change her relationship with Madyson and show her what being a family should be like. But I really loved her relationship with Brooke. They clicked pretty quickly, and I really enjoyed seeing how she didn't try to take her mother's place or treat her as a child. She was respectful and let their relationship develop naturally, and I thought that she was perfect for both Ice and Brooke. Morgan and Ice had amazing chemistry and were super hot together, even though it took awhile for anything to actually happen between them. I enjoyed the build-up and the tension though, and it was good to see them developing a connection beyond just a physical level.
Overall, this was a great start to the Regulators series and I am really excited to see where it goes from here. I liked Ice and Morgan, but I really liked the secondary characters as well. I have to say that I am excited about Hammer's story, but I absolutely cannot wait to get to know Coal better. After reading about him in this book, I really loved his character! He was such a great guy when it came to helping Morgan and Madyson, and I just know that there is so much to him. I definitely recommend this book, and I think that this will appeal to more than just the typical MC fans. I think that if you like MC books you will like this one, but those that are a bit skeptical because of cheating and some typical MC type behavior have nothing to fear with this story. If you haven't read anything by Chelsea Camaron and/or Jessie Lane, I think that this is a great place to start but would recommend both the Hellions Ride and Ex Ops series as well.
