Interview with Author Liz Carlyle and Giveaway

Today I would like to welcome to RFTC author, Liz Carlyle. Liz is celebrating the recent release of her book A Bride by Moonlight and has stopped by to answer a few questions. Please give Liz a warm welcome.

A lifelong Anglophile, Liz Carlyle cut her teeth reading gothic novels under the bedcovers by flashlight. She is the author of over twenty historical romances, including several New York Times bestsellers. Liz travels incessantly, ever in search of the perfect setting for her next book. Along with her genuine romance-hero husband and four very fine felines, she makes her home in North Carolina.

Places to find Liz:

First off, can you tell us a bit about you?
There isn’t much to say. I’m married and live in North Carolina with my husband and our four cats, and I have a vast extended family. That pretty much sums up the focus of my life.

Did you always want to be a writer?
When I was young, I thought perhaps I might make my way in the world in some sort of writing-related career, but I never envisioned writing fiction until quite late in life.

What kind of writer are you? Panster or Plotter?
Total panster.

Where do your ideas come from?
I have no clue. Sometimes they literally wake me up in the middle of the night.

A la Twitter style, can you describe your book (or series) in 140 characters or less.
A story of two worthy people who find love and redemption.

What are some of your favorite kinds of stories to read?
The last few years I’ve craved police procedurals, but I rarely have time to read one.

Do you have a favorite book and if so what is it?
Wow. Tough one. Today I’d have to go with The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest, just because I really love to see good triumph over evil. But ask me tomorrow and you’ll get a different answer. Charlotte’s Web. Pride and Prejudice. The Wizard of Oz. The Grand Sophy. Anything by Michael Connelly or James Lee Burke . . .

What are the scenes that are the hardest for you to write?
Any scene that the hero or heroine is going to misinterpret in the narrative—those Big Misunderstanding scenes.

If you could have dinner with any three authors, who would you choose and why?
Oh, I could not choose. There are too many great ones. And as all my author friends will tell you, it pretty much takes a stick of dynamite to blow me out of the house as it is.

Last question, are you working on anything right now?
I’m always working on something! I just put the finishing touches on In Love With a Wicked Man, which will be out later this year.

I would turn the tables, and ask Question #7 – what is your favorite book, and why?

Royden Napier, Baron Saint-Bryce, is tall, dark, and ruthless—and on the hunt for a dangerous beauty . . . On the eve of her escape to the Continent, bold, beautiful Lisette Colburne accepts a proposal she dare not refuse: masquerade as the future bride of the steely-eyed Royden Napier and help him solve his most dangerous case. Soon Lisette is in even greater danger—of losing her heart to the one man with the power to destroy her . . .

Estranged from his aristocratic family, the enigmatic Napier has forged a reputation as Scotland Yard's most relentless police commissioner. He's vowed to bring Lisette to justice—but with every forbidden kiss and every tantalizing touch, he finds himself becoming less convinced of her guilt . . . and more certain he must have her. But when danger touches Lisette, can he save her?

  3. Tough question. It's hard to pick just the one. Dragonsinger by Anne McCaffrey. I love the world building, I've a love of dragon stories & I just adored the heroine Menolly who overcomes adversity to realize all her dreams. I love that she is humble, unassuming but oh so talented.

  7. I have some books that I have read a few times, so I guess those would be favorites. One of them is Nora Roberts' Vision in White from the Brides Quartet series. I just love the hero, who is supposedly nerdy, but really sexy. The heroine is very likable & so are the secondary characters. There is humor & comradery & a great love story.

  8. What a great interview with Liz! It was great to be able to find out more about one of my favorite authors in fact I've been reading her books ever since I picked up a copy of A Woman Scorned back in 2000 and Jonet and Amherst's story made me a fan for life!

Of course without reading my favorite and first historical romance I never would have had the chance to enjoy her stories at all. That first book that made me an "addict" was Don Quixote by Cervantes. He was the author that gave me a story with complex characters and to enjoy the unexpected.

To be honest I fell in love with Don Quixote because who doesn't want a hero who sees only the "good" in a "heroine" like Dulcinea! A man that fights for the quest he has gone on and dreams the impossible dream.

I love a story that is unexpected and complex and can't wait to read Elizabeth and Napier's story. I can't wait to see what Napier will do with an intelligent woman except to kiss of course!

  11. I highly doubt that older masturbators are
thinking damn, this is the infamous Asian fleshlight?
Vocalists Tommy Giles Rogers BTBAM, Greg Puciato
Dillinger Escape Plan, and Mikael kerfeldt Opeth, among others.

fleshlight doesn't get cramps. He lived for art studying various art forms; impressionism, cubism and pointillism before settling with surrealism. Movies reference Fleshlight on a much higher degree of danger towards the dairy farmer and the hands that work at the dairy farm in handling such a bull. Even so, for those who have not been well researched and medications have not be developed specifically for goats.

BTW, is your blogspot being spammed? 2 posts above mine don't seem to fit with the discussion.

  15. I love different books at different times. For instance, Harry Potter was my favorite series for years until recently. Then Ender's Game when I read if for book discussion. Now Cinder because I've always related to Cinderella and love the steampunk/fractured fairy tales movement. The underlying thread to all these books, though, is an underdog turned hero!

  23. My favorite book is the "one I'm reading at the moment."

I really can choose a favorite. After I've read some books, they stick well, and I can remember how I felt about a particular one. But most books are enjoyable as I read them, and then once finished, they drift out of mind.
