RFTC Hall Pass Event with Monica Murphy

New York Times, USA Today and international bestselling author Monica Murphy is a native Californian who lives in the foothills below Yosemite with her husband and three children. She's a workaholic who loves her job. When she's not busy writing, she also loves to read and travel with her family. She writes new adult and contemporary romance and is published with Bantam and Avon. She also writes contemporary romance as USA Today bestselling author Karen Erickson.

Ah, the hall pass. We all have a list right? Actors, celebrities, athletes, musicians...there are quite a few hot guys out there that if they came knocking on my door and said, "Let's go," I'd wave at my husband and let them whisk me away. And I know he has a few on his list too.

But of course, this is never going to happen. That's why it's so much fun to choose fictional heroes from romance books who are on my hall pass list. Hey, they don't exist but who cares! These guys are hot enough to infiltrate my brain and refuse to leave it.

So without further ado, here's my hall pass list:

-- Josh Bradley, LIGHT HER FIRE (by Samanthe Beck): Full disclosure -- Sam is my friend. I love her. She just so happens to write some of the sexiest heroes out there. And Josh is probably my all time favorite of hers. He's just so matter of fact sexy. He takes one look at the heroine Melody and decides he likes her. A lot. He has no qualms in letting her know how much he likes her either. I loved the banter in this book and these two are hot! I highly recommend it. You'll add Josh to your list by the end of the book, trust me.

-- Jared Quinn, GAME FOR MARRIAGE (by me! writing as Karen Erickson) -- I've written a lot of books, meaning I've created a lot of heroes and though I love all of them, only a few really stick with me. One that sticks? My precious quarterback the Mighty Quinn. He's hot. Confident. Very good at his job. And very good with the ladies. Then he meets one particular lady (Sheridan) and falls hard for her. It was so fun making him fall hard. And extra fun putting Jared and Sheridan in awkward situations (hello, fake marriage). I loved these two. I still do.

-- Cameron Wilder, INSTANT ATTRACTION (by Jill Shalvis) -- I've been a major Jill fan for years (she probably thinks I'm a stalker). I know everyone loves her Lucky Harbor series (and I do too!) but this particular hero just stole my heart and won't let it go. He's so grumpy and angsty and he doesn't want to have anything to do with the heroine Katie but he absolutely cannot resist her. She's just so sweet and up for an adventure when the last thing he wants is another adventure. This is a book I actually re-read (and I rarely do that). Cam is just THAT good. I adore him. I could go on and on but I'll probably end up embarrassing myself so I'll shut up now.

-- Drew Callahan, ONE WEEK GIRLFRIEND (by me! writing as Monica Murphy) -- I have to mention Drew because he touched a lot of readers. Writing his and Fable's story changed my career - and my life. He's just so damaged, so closed off, yet so possessive and sexy when he needs to be. He came at me out of nowhere and I wrote the first part of his and Fable's story in about two weeks. It just poured out of me. He grabbed hold of me and didn't let go. He still hasn't let go. I have readers request more Drew + Fable all the time. How can I not add him to my hall pass list?

So there you have it - my list. Who's the guy I would take if I could only have one? CAMERON. He makes me swoon! In fact, I think a re-read is in order...

People say the youngest child has it easy, but nothing can be further from the truth. Unlike my two sisters, Violet and Lily, I’m never in the limelight. I just work my butt off for Fleur Cosmetics and get little to no thanks for it. I’ve been pushed too far one too many times, and I’m finally brave enough to do something about it.

Maybe my newfound courage has something to do with the amazing pink and white diamond necklace I wear to the party in Cannes. The instant those dazzling heirloom jewels touch my skin, they excite some deep, aching need inside. And when that guy—that totally gorgeous guy—locks eyes with me, I know this nice girl is going to be naughty.

For once it’s my turn. My turn to say no to my father, to outshine my sisters, to walk away from it all—straight into the arms of a mysterious stranger. But what if Caden is much more than I bargained for? Sure, he makes me feel sexy and free in a way I never have before, but there’s something else I can’t quite place—something dangerous. Maybe our “chance” meeting wasn’t so random. Maybe he was looking for me for a reason. Whatever his motive, there’s no going back now.

And maybe I don’t want to.

  1. I loved Drew too! I haven't read the others yet, but I definitely will soon. What made you decide to write under a pen name? Was it just the distinction of the genre?

  2. Nice choices! I'd pick:

Colton Donavan - because he f**ks like he drives, hard and fast!
Brady Maxwell - because he just sounds delicious

  7. I am one of those that love Jill Shalvis Lucky Harbor series. The first three are the best. Though I think Then Came You is incredible. I have listened to it 3 times. Fabulous. I have enjoyed her writing for the most part everywhere. But I have not read Camerons story. So I will be checking him out!! Thanks for sharing!
