ARC Review: Lust by Emma Hart

I couldn't wait to get my hands on Lust after finishing Sin by Emma Hart! While Lust is the second book in the Vegas Nights series, each book can be read as a standalone story. I would recommend reading in order if possible though as they are interconnected and they do overlap a bit. I was so excited for Lust though and Emma Hart definitely didn't let me down here.

Lust is Perrie Fox and Adrian Potter's story. Perrie Fox is Damien's sister from Sin, she is a single mother working as a prostitute to provide for her daughter. Adrian Potter is a detective tasked with shutting down the prostitutes in his city. Both are just trying to provide for their children, but when Adrian arrests Perrie he knows that she is doing all that she can for her daughter and sees it as an opportunity for them to help each other. But as they get to know one another and grow closer, can the cop and the hooker possibly have a future together?

This book was hot and sexy, but it was so much more than that. Perrie and Adrian had a connection that was surprising and yet just felt right. These two had a ton of chemistry, but it was the depth and emotion that really got me here. I loved them for one another and couldn't get enough! I have to say though that the kids absolutely stole the show here! They were adorable, and I just loved them.

Overall, this was a great book! I enjoyed it from start to finish and I think that readers are going to really like this one like I did. The story was great and had everything you could ask for in a great romance novel. It was sexy and sweet, and filled with emotion. Emma Hart is a fantastic writer and this series is one that I have really enjoyed reading. If you haven't read these books yet, I definitely recommend them.

ARC Review: Sin by Emma Hart

I love Emma Hart's books, so I was super excited to find out about a new series from her! This sexy blurb and cover was all I needed to see to know I had to read it, and I enjoyed this one so much! This was a great start to her new series, and I am already anxious for more!

Damien Fox was the definition of his name, getting what he wanted without no matter the consequences. Owning half of the strip clubs in Vegas, he next set his sights on Dahlia's bar. But Dahlia wasn't about to throw in the towel, and soon they found themselves in a dirty game where Dahlia let Damien think he was winning. But when things heat up between them, can Dahlia continue to hold all the cards or will she find herself unable to resist Damien?

Damien and Dahlia were sexy together and I loved seeing their relationship grow and evolve over the course of this book. They were perfect for one another and I really felt like they were a great match. While they were sexy and had strong chemistry, I also felt like there was a lot of emotion and a genuine connection that made these two special. I couldn't get enough of Damien and Dahlia and had a great time reading their story.

Overall, I definitely recommend this book and I think this series is going to be one of the best from Emma Hart yet! There was plenty of steam and emotion, as well as the fun and quirky moments that Emma Hart fans will love and recognize. Sin was everything I was looking for and I can't wait for more.

ARC Review: Catching Carly by Emma Hart

I couldn't wait to get my hands on Catching Carly after finishing Being Brooke by Emma Hart! Being Brooke is one of my favorite reads from Emma Hart, and I just loved it from start to finish. While Catching Carly is a standalone story, I highly recommend reading these in order if possible because they are so good and you get to know these characters a bit in the first book.

Zeke Elliott is the last person that Carly should be with, they have driven each other nuts for as long as they have known each other. Yet they can't help the attraction between them that leads to a night neither one of them can get out of their heads. But can Carly and Zeke set aside their differences long enough to explore the chemistry between them and see if there is a chance at something more?

These two had so much chemistry and tension between them! They had such personality and I felt like while they seemed so different at first, that they actually had so much that made it easy to relate to one another. Zeke and Carly were hot together but it was so much more than that. They were really perfect for one another in a way that no one else would have been.

I will admit that it took me awhile to get into this story and that I did have some times that I thought Carly got in the way of the story a bit. I understood some of where she was coming from, but at times she got on my nerves a bit. I still really enjoyed the story and Zeke and Carly together. While I didn't love this one as much as I did the first, I still recommend it and I think that readers will enjoy Carly and Zeke's story.

ARC Review: Casanova by Emma Hart

Emma Hart is one of those authors that has been kind of hit or miss for me. I usually really love her books or they just don't work for me. I am always drawn to her stories though and her covers are always gorgeous. While I just read and loved Being Brooke, Casanova was not the book for me. The blurb was so promising and sounded like one I was going to love, but I had quite a few issues with the characters and story itself. I seem to be in the minority here though, as all the reviews I have seen so far loved it.

Brett and Lani had been best friends and she loved him, until the day that everything changed. He broke her while never knowing what he had done, and she ran away. But now she is back in town after a death in the family and once her pregnant sister asks her to stay awhile she can't refuse. Especially when Brett's dad asks her to help clean up his image and make him look better after the reputation that he has earned. But can Lani keep herself from falling for him once again, especially when he is more determined that ever to make her fall for him?

I will say that the main reason for my problems with this story were the characters themselves. I have no problem with a manwhore, especially one that changes his ways. While Brett wasn't still hooking up with tons of girls, his attitude about the whole thing was my problem. He was a jerk a lot of the time, and I found myself constantly asking myself "Did he really just say that??" or "Did he really just do that??"...and not in a good way! He had me absolutely flabbergasted at times, and I just couldn't ever get over it because just when he would start to win me over he would say or do something that ruined him all over again! He was unbelievable and not in a good way. I never felt like he was truly sorry for everything that had happened either. Even after he found out what made Lani run, he openly admitted that he did what she said (He gets a few points for honesty) but then he basically excuses it by saying that he had his reasons for it and he never meant it. Really? Lani had her moments where I thought I was going to really like her. She told Brett's dad that she would be honest and portray Brett exactly as he was while doing her best to show the positives and not the negatives, and she did do that. She let others see the good side of him and there were parts of him that were really good! They made me want to love him. But she also forgave him far too easily and didn't really make him work for anything. She was a bit too much of a doormat for me, with him easily getting back in without really even having to try. I should have paid attention to the blurb, because it said it all..."He didn't chase me. He never needed to, because he knew I'd come back. He was right." While these two had chemistry and the attraction was obvious, I struggled to get behind their relationship because of how Lani just rolled over and how Brett's attitude about everything was.

There were so many times that I really thought about putting this book down, mostly when Brett said or did something that just destroyed all the good he had built up. I ended up finishing though, because I really wanted to see if he could fully redeem himself. Unfortunately for me, I never felt like he did. He didn't seem that sorry for what had happened, and Lani was apparently fine with that even if I wasn't. I also felt like the big secret the family was keeping that Lani had been hired to clean up his image after, referred to as "The Thing", was so anticlimactic. It was made out to be this giant thing and once I found out what it was (very late in the story I will add) it just wasn't that big of a deal to me. This one just wasn't for me, and as much as I wanted to love it there were just too many strikes against it in my book. I do think that a lot of readers will love this one, and if the early reviews are anything to go by that is definitely the case. Sadly this one wasn't for me, and if you have a problem with doormat heroines or manwhore heroes this might not be for you either. But I do recommend giving it a shot if it sounds like one you might like, since I definitely seem to be in the minority. I won't stop reading Emma Hart as I have enjoyed a lot of her books, Casanova was just a miss for me.

ARC Review: Being Brooke by Emma Hart

I absolutely loved this book! From start to finish, Emma Hart had me captivated with these amazing characters. This book was fun and refreshing, sexy and hilarious. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Being Brooke and it is honestly my favorite book of Emma Hart's ever. Cain and Brooke are impossible not to fall for and I could not stop smiling as I read this one.

Brooke has been in love with her best friend for years, but has never done anything about it. Everyone around her knows how she feels about Cain, except Cain. But not only can she not say anything about her true feelings for Cain, but he has a girlfriend. As Brooke moves out on her own and begins to face being an adult, she finds herself relying on Cain more than ever. But can Brooke face the awkwardness of telling Cain how she really feels, or will she remain silent and risk remaining in the friend zone forever?

I adored these two so much! Their friendship was so much fun to read about, and I loved their connection. These two were so close and knew each other better than anyone. Their interactions were hilarious, often sarcastic and witty with their banter being the kind I always hope for in books like this. I seriously could not get enough of them, and their other best friend Carly. Not only did I love the connection they shared, but I enjoyed seeing them evolve into more, with their chemistry things got super sexy between them. I love friends to lovers stories, and this one was fantastic.

Honestly I just loved everything about this story and it was everything you could ask for in a great rom-com. Brooke was hilarious, and she had me rolling the whole way through this book. I loved how sarcastic and quick witted she was, but I also loved seeing her grow a bit too. She wasn't afraid to be herself, and I was so glad that she never changed herself or tried to be anything different. Even as she showed growth and progress, she stayed true to herself and that was what had me loving her character right along with everyone she was close to. I really had the best time reading this one, and it is definitely a book that I would highly recommend. If you are looking for a sweet and sexy romance that will entertain and amuse you from the first word to the last, you have to read Being Brooke.

ARC Review: Dirty Little Rendezvous by Emma Hart

Dirty Little Rendezvous is a spin-off to the Burke Brothers series by Emma Hart. This features their sister Leila, and I was really excited to get her story. I enjoyed this one a lot, and it was good to catch up with all the Burkes again and to see so many familiar faces. If you enjoyed the Burke Brothers series this is one you are definitely going to want to read, but if you haven't read those this is easily read as a standalone story.

When Leila Burke heads out on tour with her brothers and their band Dirty B, the last thing she expects is to come face to face with her one night stand Jase. She had met Jase while backpacking through Europe the year before and they shared one passionate night together. Now with her brothers on her case and laying down the law while they are on tour, the last thing she needs is someone that tempts her to break their rules. But Jase is more than just a one night stand from her past, he is also Dirty B's new supporting act. Though Jase and Leila know all the reasons they shouldn't be together, they find themselves unable to fight the attraction between them.

I have been waiting for Leila's story since she was first introduced in the Burke Brothers series. She is such a firecracker, and I loved how she was able to keep up with the boys! I knew it would take a special guy to win her over since you can't grow up with four brothers like the Burkes and not expect to have to work for it a bit. She is such a strong character, and I have liked her since the beginning. I will admit she did have some immature moments here where it drove me a bit nuts, but that didn't stop me from loving her character. Jase was amazing. I loved him right from the start! I mean who wouldn't, he is a sexy British rockstar! But he was so good for Leila and I really felt like they were perfect for one another. He was sweet and I couldn't get enough of him. These two had off the charts chemistry, and the attraction was clear right from the beginning.

As much as I loved these characters, I would have liked a bit more of them. I felt like while they got to know one another and we did too, that it wasn't quite as deep as I wanted and everything felt mostly on the surface. I think part of that was because while this story focused on them, there was also a lot going on with the rest of the Burkes and it just didn't leave a lot of extra page space for these two. As nice as it was to see all our favorites again, I wish some of that had been cut back a bit to really allow Jase and Leila to remain the stars of this book. I think Tate's parts could have been cut back considerably as he got to be a bit over the top obnoxious in this book with all his protective ways when it came to Leila. Some of that from the Burkes was cute, but Tate took things a bit too far, especially considering Leila's age. Overall though this was a good story and a lot of fun to read, and Jase and Leila are definitely worth checking out if you haven't already!

ARC Review: Dirty Tricks by Emma Hart

Dirty Tricks is the fourth book in the Burke Brothers series from Emma Hart. While each book centers around the Burke brothers and the band Dirty B, each book is a standalone story featuring a different brother. I was really excited to get to know Kye better after reading the previous books. With Kye being the quiet one, I felt like he was pretty much a mystery. I loved seeing more of him here though. He is defnitely one of my favorites of the Burkes, though it is impossible not to love all of them.

Having seen the rockstar life firsthand growing up with her dad, Chelsey Young knows exactly what it means to be with a rockstar. They party hard and with an endless supply of groupies they don't do more than one night. So when Kye Burke shows interest in her, Chelsey decides to be with him for one night. Except Kye wants more than just one night with her and has been biding his time before making a move. Kye does his best to show Chelsey what they could have, but she continues to turn him down despite the fact that they keep finding themselves thrown together. With Kye leaving soon for LA to record their new album, he knows that he has to figure something out with Chelsey quick. But can he convince her that everything she knows about rockstars is wrong when it comes to him?

I could not have loved Kye more! He was so sexy and sweet, and he had the patience of an absolute saint! He never gave up on Chelsey and never resorted to going after other women. He was exactly the kind of hero that is impossible not to fall for. I loved his sweet side and how protective and caring he was, but I also loved how he was still fun and could joke around as well. Chelsey was a different story for me though. I understood that her upbringing and all she had been through had left her with a ton of fears and insecurities, and I didn't blame her for being on the skeptical side. However that got old after awhile, and the fact that Kye continued to show her that he was nothing like her dad over and over really made it hard to accept as it continued throughout this entire book. Even seeing Kye's actions, she made assumptions and judgments about him and would push him away. The running got very old and I was just over it by the time that I got to the end and she was still doing it. These two had great chemistry and when they were together a great connection, but I was just so over her hot and cold routine.

While I absolutely adored Kye, I found Chelsey impossible to connect with. It wasn't that I disliked her, I just felt like she had too many issues and that she had a ton of attitude to the point that it was irritating. While I am all for girl power and not being easy, it just felt like Chelsey was so insecure and immature at times that she needed to really speak with someone about her issues besides just her friends. Kye was so loving and supportive and it was like nothing he did could get through to her. I didn't really find her sudden transformation at the very end to be believable when I hadn't seen her making any progress throughout the whole story. If I had seen her growing up and making changes over the course of the book that would have been a different story, but honestly if it wasn't for the fact that Kye never gave up and saw something in her, I wouldn't have cared at all. So while I absolutely loved Kye, this wasn't my favorite of the series. What I did love here (besides Kye) though was seeing all the Burke brothers and their girls. This family is so much fun and they are absolutely hilarious, and I adore the cute Mila and how she has the entire family wrapped around her tiny fingers. The camaraderie and love in this group is so strong, and I honestly just love reading about all of them. I would still recommend this book and the series to contemporary/new adult fans, especially if you like sexy rockers that have depth. I just wish that Chelsey had been a bit easier for me to like and relate to.

ARC Review: Dirty Lies by Emma Hart

Dirty Lies is the third book in the Burke Brothers series from Emma Hart. Each book is a standalone story though, so don't worry about jumping in here if you haven't read the previous two. This is Aidan's book, and I have to admit that I have been curious about him for awhile. I will say that this wasn't my favorite of the series. While it did have a lot of enjoyable moments, there were some things that just didn't work for me.

Since catching her now ex-boyfriend with someone else, Jessie Law is in no hurry to find someone else. So when she runs into Aidan Burke while he is home from touring with Dirty B, she views it as the perfect chance for a rebound. They agree to one night together with no expectations. But when Aidan then saves Jessie from her ex-boyfriend the following morning, Aidan makes the mistake of saying that he is her new boyfriend. Looking to clean up their act, the band manager asks Aidan to let the public believe that Jessie really is his girlfriend and she reluctantly agrees. The more time that they spend together though, the more the lines between fake and real begin to blur.

Part of my problem here was Aidan. While there were times that I really liked him, for the most part he was an absolute jerk. I didn't believe that his feelings were developing for Jessie beyond the fact that he was attracted to her. He would say how sexy she was and there were times that he would appear to be feeling jealous and wanting more, but ultimately it all just seemed to be physical. Jessie was feisty and had a definite attitude here as well. I found it pretty hard to connect with either of them. Jessie had issues with Aidan from when they were young, and i'm not saying that he made it easier here in the present, but she definitely was biased about him and gave him no room to show he was a different person. These two did have a ton of chemistry, but I just wasn't feeling their connection grow like I would have liked.

I also really disliked Jessie's sister Saskia. She was supposed to be sixteen, and yet she acted about ten. She was the biggest bratty fan-girl and I hated what a tattle-tale she was! She would try to blackmail Jessie into getting what she wanted, and if Jessie didn't give her everything she wanted she would run and tell her parents. It was so annoying and honestly I was beyond fed up with the crap very early on here. Every time she would show up I would just cringe. I think that this story had a lot of potential for being great. There is nothing hotter than an enemies to lovers story with some good passionate hate sex happening. But unfortunately this one didn't deliver like I had hoped for. I really enjoy Emma Hart's books for the most part, but this one was good when I thought it could have been so much more. Fans of the series will enjoy seeing familiar faces, and I loved seeing Aidan with Mila. Those were some of the highlights of this book, and I loved how great he was with her. I am interested in reading the next book, and I know that I will read more from Emma Hart in the future.

ARC Review: Intercepted by Emma Hart

Intercepted is the third and final book in Emma Hart's By His Game series. This series centers around the Vipers football players and their girls, and each book an be read as a standalone. While I have really enjoyed Emma's books in the past, I will admit that this series has been sort of up and down for me. While I liked things about the previous two books, I also had some issues with them. That being said, Intercepted was my favorite of the series! This book was really good, and I thought it was the best of the series. Reid was so easy to fall for, and I just loved him!

After finding pictures of her boyfriend and her best friend together, Everleigh heads back home to LA leaving NY behind. She left for college years before, leaving behind her best friend and the man she loved. Reid North is four years older than Ever, and although she always liked him she knew that she had to leave. Reid was left heartbroken when Ever left him without saying goodbye, he had always planned on telling her that he loved her but was never given the chance. But now he is a single father of a young boy and is a successful wide receiver for the Vipers. When Ever shows back up, he wants answers for why she left all those years before. But he also wants the shot with her that he never got, and he isn't willing to let her go this time. But with years apart and their exes suddenly back in the picture, things are more complicated than ever.

Reid was amazing, and I honestly loved him. He had been hurt by Ever, but it was clear that his feelings for her never wavered. He tried to move forward with his life, but his main focus was always his son. I was so glad that while he wanted Ever and never stopped loving her, he didn't let it stop him from living his life. I loved that Reid was determined to show Ever that they belonged together and didn't give up on her. Ever was a bit stubborn at times and Reid definitely had his work cut out for him. But he knew her better than anyone, and he didn't let her get away will pulling the crap she normally would. I loved Ever, even when she frustrated me. She was funny and sarcastic, and I liked how witty she was. She didn't care what others thought, and she was such a unique character. I liked seeing her fall back into being friends with Reid, but also how she took the friendship and moved beyond that with him. She was great with Reid and with his son Leo, and I was happy to see that they didn't rush things. She knew that Leo needed stability and she had to ease herself into being with both Reid as well as being around Leo full time. Reid and Ever had a great friendship and had always wanted one another even if they never acted on it, so the progression from friends to more was so natural. These two were great together, and it was easy to see that they always belonged to one another.

Overall, this book was what I have come to know and expect from Emma Hart. It was a really good story with likable characters that you feel invested in. There were a few times that Ever frustrated me and I felt like she handled things poorly, but then again so did Reid. These two were dealing with a lot that most people never have to go through, and it was easy to see that they were doing what they could. Part of it was their age, so even while it drove me nuts it seemed real and believable. I liked seeing previous characters, but Reid and Everleigh were definitely my favorites of the entire series. Leo stole the whole show though, and it was impossible not to love the adorable little kid. I liked his relationship with Reid, but it even better seeing them form such a bond as family with Ever. I liked the previous books, but I would definitely recommend this book if you are going to pick one from the series to read. This book was entertaining, and I can't wait to read more from Emma Hart in the future.

ARC Review: Sidelined by Emma Hart

I will admit that I am a huge fan of Emma Hart's, and I have read quite a few of her books at this point. But that being said, so far I have sort of a love/hate relationship with her By His Game series. Each book in this series is a standalone story with interconnected characters, so these don't have to be read in order. If you are interested in reading them though, I would recommend starting at the beginning. Sidelined is the second book in this series, and I had a few of the same issues with this one as I did with the first book in this series. While I liked parts of it, there were things that I really didn't care for. It's really hard for me to write anything negative about Emma Hart's work, because I think that she is a fantastic writer. I think maybe I am just not clicking with this series for some reason.

After her boyfriend of three years cheated on her and knocked up her cousin, Macey Kelly has sworn off men. She has no problem seeking them out for a night of no strings sex, but anything beyond that she isn't willing to do. But with her best friend having fallen in love with a football player, she has been forced to be around Jack Carr. Though they have had a couple of steamy nights together, she isn't willing to try anything more with him because she doesn't trust him. But Jack isn't willing to let go so easily, especially when he is looking for the same thing she is. When Jack proposes that they stick to just having sex with no feelings, at first Macey wants nothing to do with it. But soon she realizes that it might be exactly what she needs. When her ex shows up at her door with something he needs to tell her though, her new arrangement quickly gets more complicated. Before long, Macey is more confused than ever and wondering which guy if either she should be with. Should she choose the man she knows everything about and is comfortable with despite the fact that he betrayed her? Or should she take a risk with the sexy football star that she feels a strong connection and chemistry with?

I have to say that I really liked Jack. He had his moments that he ticked me off a bit, but for the most part he is what kept me reading this story. He was sweet and sexy, and I loved how open and honest he was with Macey. He wouldn't let her get away with her crap, and wasn't afraid to make her face some tough issues. He was great, and I really liked him for Macey. Macey was tough and strong at times, and then came off as completely weak and immature at others. She was very wishy washy and didn't seem to have a clue what she wanted. She pushed Jack away constantly only to pull him right back in. Then she would say she didn't want her ex Mitch back, only to be unable to let him go. She was confusing, and honestly I didn't really like her. I felt like Jack deserved better, and she was stupid for ever allowing Mitch even a second of her time. Mitch was awful to me. He made a huge mistake, and even admitted to Macey that he wouldn't have told her he betrayed her if her cousin hadn't forced his hand. He came back around after being gone for a year, and just expected that Macey would give him another chance. He didn't deserve one, and honestly he didn't even really seem that apologetic. I didn't really understand why she felt so torn, because to me and all her friends and family it was completely obvious who she should be with.

Overall, this was a good but not great story to me. While I loved Jack and liked him and Macey when they were together, I hated the fact that she was so indecisive. I felt like she had no reason to drag things out with these two guys. I didn't understand how after being so upset with Mitch and everything that he had done, that she would continue to date him and talk to him. I don't mind a love triangle when I see the connection between the characters, and when I feel that either of the love interests actually deserves a shot. But in this case, I really didn't feel that way and it just irritated me with how long it went on. Not only that, but feelings were clearly involved at that point, and it just didn't feel right that she would be physical with both of them even if was only kissing and dates rather than full on sex. I just felt like it was cheating even if technically it wasn't against the arrangement. While I had these issues with the story, I think that there are lots of people who will really enjoy this book and not have any of the problems I did. I have really enjoyed the other books I have read from Emma Hart outside this series, and I think that she is a great writer. So I think if this book sounds like something that you might like that you should still give it a shot. This series just might not be the one for me.
