RFTC I've Got a Secret Event with Author Jennifer Blackwood

Jennifer Blackwood is an English teacher and contemporary romance author. She lives in Oregon with her husband, son, and poorly behaved black lab puppy. When not chasing after her toddler, you can find her binging on episodes of Gilmore Girls and Supernatural, and locking herself in her office to write.

I have a secret. I am obsessed with tattoos. Have been ever since I first fell in love with Adam Levine. *swoon* If someone has ink on their body, I’m the person that is ogling, probably not so discreetly. Truth is, I have been wanting to get full sleeve tattoos for a long time. There is just something about inked out arms that really speaks to me. Every couple months I go on Pinterest and peruse tattoos (I’ve been drawn to literary quotes and feathers) and have quite a collection saved for if I actually take the plunge. I have one tattoo as of right now, which is smaller than a quarter and not visible to anyone but my husband and my toddler who follows me into the bathroom. So, to take that leap, well, I’m a little nervous.

So for right now, I will just ogle other peoples’ ink from afar until I manage to muster up the courage to go under the tattoo gun again. I tend to be the type that overthinks things and decides I’ll put it off until later—but hopefully that will change soon, right? A happy compromise in the meantime is to write characters in my books who are tatted up. If you’ve read my books, each of my heroes have tattoos. In my upcoming release, THE RULE BOOK, the hero, Brogan Starr, has full sleeve tattoos. Yum. I enjoyed researching him, inch by deliciously inked inch.

The cover reveal for The Rule Book is on the 15th! If you'd like to participate in spreading the word, here is the signup link: https://goo.gl/DhvO73

Starr Media Second-Assistant Survival Guide

1. Don't call your hot boss the antichrist to his face.
2. Don't stare at hot boss's, um, package or his full sleeve of tattoos. (No. Really. Stop!)
3. Don't get on the malicious first assistant's bad side.
4. Don't forget to memorize the 300-page employee manual.
5. If you value your cashmere, steer clear of boss’s dog.
6. Boss’s dimples are lust-inducing. Do. Not. Give. In.
7. “The elevator ate your clothes” is not a valid excuse for showing up to important meetings half dressed.
8. Don't break seven of the rules within the first week of employment if you, ya know, are in dire need of money to support your sick mom.
9. Whatever you do, don’t fall for the boss. See rule eight about sick mom.
10. Never forget the rules.

    1. Thank you! Hmm...the worst job? I'd have to say working at WinCo (it's a grocery store chain on the west coast). I had to work in the bottle room and the smell of stale alcohol and rotted milk still makes me want to gag.

    1. Hmm...I'd have to say the year that I met my husband. We met in college and I miss being carefree and being able to spend 24/7 doing anything we wanted.

  10. Some tattoos are really nice but I don't love the look of lots of tattoos all mashed together. I guess I like tattoos either to be single, special little things or one cohesive story. You know what I mean? I do love the tattoo show Ink Master. There are some really talented artists out there!
