Interview with Debbie Mason and Giveaway

Praised as a "writer to watch" by RT Book Reviews, Debbie Mason also writes Scottish-set historical paranormals as Debbie Mazzuca. Her MacLeod series debuted in April 2010 and is said to "combine the passion of Hannah Howell's Highand romances with the seductive fantasy of Karen Marie Moning's bestsellers."

Places to find Debbie:

A la Twitter style, please describe your book in 140 characters or less.
POW Jack Flaherty returns home to a town he couldn't wait to leave and a wife and son he doesn't remember.

What types of scenes are your most favorite to write?
In this series, any scene that involves self-appointed town matriarch Nell McBride. They're always a lot of fun to write. I never know what she's going to do or say.

If you could have dinner with any three authors (alive or dead), who would you choose and why?
Diana Gabaldon. I'm a huge fan of her Outlander series. Book 8, Written In My Own Heart's Blood, has just released. And I don't think I can stand the suspense of waiting another four years to find out what's in store for Jamie and Claire.
Deborah Harkness. I love her All Souls Trilogy. The last book, The Book of Life, releases July 15 of this year. I want/need to know if this is the last we see of Diana and Matthew.
Jojo Moyes. I read her book, Me Before You, a few months ago and have since read everything she's written. I love her voice. She's a wonderful author with a dry sense of humor that appeals to me.

What are you favorite types of stories to read?
I don't really have a favorite type. I read anything and everything.

Last question, are you working on anything right now?
Yes, I'm finishing up book 4 in the Christmas, Colorado, series, Wedding Bells in Christmas. This is Vivi Westfield and Chance McBride's story. It's set to release in May 2015. Then it's on to book 5 in the series.

Readers, do you enjoy amnesia stories? Do you enjoy second chance love stories?

Grace Flaherty had given up hope of ever seeing her husband again. After all, it'd been over a year since he went missing in combat. So when he strides through the door of her bakery in downtown Christmas one sunny afternoon, she can hardly believe her eyes. But her happily-ever-after is going to take some effort - because Jack has no memory of his family.

All Jack Flaherty remembers about Christmas is that he couldn't wait to leave town. Now he's a local hero with a wife and son he doesn't know. Even as he struggles to rekindle the romance with his wife, he knows in his heart what he wants: a second chance at love.

  1. I love amnesia stories. Its a 2nd chance story with a twist. I think we all look at times where we could have acted differently to bring about a better end to an issue. This type of story helps us to believe that 2nd chances are possible. I love that in a book!

  3. I like both amnesia and second chance stories. I like to see how the memory returns and how the two people have changed when they were apart.
