Interview with Author Jodi Ellen Malpas and Giveaway

New York Times bestselling author Jodi Ellen Malpas was born and raised in the Midlands town of Northhapton, UK, where she still lives with her family. Working for the family construction business fulltime and with the prospect of taking it over once her father retired, she tried to ignore the lingering idea of writing a novel until it became impossible. She finally found the time and courage to release her creative streak and in October 2012 self-published This Man as an e-book. Since then, Forever has released the This Man Trilogy in both trade paperback and ebook formats. For more information please visit Jodi online: www.jodiellenmalpas.co.uk; www.facebook.com/JodiEllenMalpas; and www.twitter.com/JodiEllenMalpas. One Night: Promised is Jodi’s fourth novel.

First off, can you tell us a bit about you?
I’m 34, a mother of 2 delicious boys, a hopeless romantic, a Zinfandel drinker in private, a vodka drinker in public, and I’m a sucker for an alpha male. I also write the odd book or two. About love. With a bit of sex =)

Did you always want to be a writer?
Nope. I’d never thought about writing a book until Jesse Ward invaded my mind.

What kind of writer are you? Panster or Plotter?
I’m a plotter, for sure.

Where do your ideas come from?
My brain. Sorry! Couldn’t help myself =) Any trivial little thing can spike an idea. I could be anywhere, doing anything.

A la Twitter style, can you describe your book (or series) in 140 characters or less.
The fascination Olivia & M share for each other soon means one emotionless night turns into obsession & way too many feelings, as their dark love story unfolds.

What are some of your favorite kinds of stories to read?
I like an eclectic mix. My bookshelf is crammed with modern romance, chick-lit, crime, thrillers. Historical romance, murder mystery…

Do you have a favorite book and if so what is it?
The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown.

What are the scenes that are the hardest for you to write?
What I call ‘fillers’. These are the bits between major scenes that link my story together. I try to inject humour into these parts

Last question, are you working on anything right now?
I’ve just wrapped up One Night. Right now I’m going to take a small break, but I don’t expect it to be long before the laptop calls and another man is formulating in my mind =)

If you could ask me to write anything, what would it be?

Livy notices him the moment he walks into the coffee shop. He's heart-stoppingly stunning, with a blue-eyed gaze so piercing she's almost too distracted to take his order. When he walks out the door, she thinks she'll never see him again. Then she finds the note he left on his napkin . . . signed M.

All he wants is one night to worship her. No feelings, no commitment, nothing but pleasure. Every defense mechanism Livy has adopted during her solitary life is at risk of being obliterated by this confounding man. He's obnoxious but well-mannered. He's a gentleman but aloof. He's passionate but emotionless. Yet the fascination is so powerful, Livy can't deny him... or herself.

M awakens something in Livy, something deep and addictive that she never knew existed -- and that she fears only he can satisfy. But she senses that behind the fast cars, fancy suits, and posh apartment, he's aching inside. To have him, body and soul, she'll have to brave his dark secrets. Delving into his world and breaking down his defenses become her obsession - an obsession that could shatter her heart beyond repair..
